If my sin causes someone elses pain, how can I stop it if I am born a sinner, a creature that will stop at nothing to cause utter desolation and agony on other souls!?

I want my sin to stop but I can’t because I am a sinner… My actions, my very life, my own existance is killing others!? Oh my good Lord, I am so cruel! Why does my life cause so much pain as to the point of desruction of someone elses happiness? It’s just not right, I don’t deserve to live! Why does christ let me live, why?

Why does God let us live, why did he kill his own son just for us to keep on being evil to one another?

I don’t really understand your post but I will pray for you.

…please do, i am causing nothing but agony to people here at CAF. How can any of our beliefs be good if we are hurting each other so much!? 🤷 I am staring to doubt my beliefs…

All sin has an effect on the Body of Christ. There is no such thing as sin that doesn’t affect someone else.

That is why Jesus left His apostles with the power to “bind and loose”, to forgive sins. The grace that you receive in the sacrament of reconciliation can go a long way towards conquering some of your sins. God DOES give you the spiritual gifts that you need to work towards holiness. None of us will ever say "OK, I’m perfect, but there are sins that you can leave behind. To say that you can’t stop because you’re a sinner??? Maybe not totally, but you can certainly make progress.

Prayer, contrition, humble surrender to Jesus, open-ness to God’s grace… it’s a start. But quit with the despair. Despair is the devil’s sandbox. Don’t play there.

Zundrah, I don’t remember ever seeing your posts; we must frequent different forums, so I don’t know what you’re referring to about causing other members pain. Anytime there’s something spiritually beneficial to a lot of people like CAF is, the devil’s going to be pretty active and disruptive. If there are threads that tempt you, don’t post on them. Leave them alone. Sometimes the only thing that works is to avoid the things that hit us in our weakest spots. Everybody here is a sinner, and everyone is to some degree destructive in their own way.
Despair keeps you from being realistic, from getting up and trying over and over and over, which is what it requires. You’re alive because God wants you to be. He loves you.

How do you stop your sin - You make a conscience decision to say no to it, you then pray for strength to carry that decision through and when you are tempted, you ask the Father to take it away from you, of which he will readily do since this is his will, just as a child asking for help down from their high chair.

If and when you fail, instead of beating yourself up over it, you acknowledge the fact that you cannot do this on your own, that you need Christ in your heart to overcome and pick yourself up, brush off your knees and move forward. Do not get caught in the trap where you think you have gone to far, God is ready willing and able to forgive you and let you start over, living life anew.

You are a unique creation, know that in full and know that it has nothing to do with you being perfect, you are loved for exactly who you are and your potential is profound, it’s time you start living up to it as a child of God ought to.

Also, focus along building upon positive traits within your being, charity, empathy, compassion, love, wisdom, etc. and let those saturate your thoughts rather then letting your current faults do. We all fall short, thank the Lord we have his grace to carry us through, all God wants from us is to try and not to despair.

Zundrah, I’ve read some of your posts, and I emphatically do not think you are causing utter desolation and agony on other souls, or killing them or their happiness!

It is my own judgement that says you are not doing these things. But whatever you think about it, I know that it is not God that is making you feel this way! God forgives you whatever you do, and doesn’t want you to feel guilt that wrecks your own happiness, as you seem to feel now.

Christ is showing you His mercy even now - let Him into your heart to chase away these horrible ideas you have now. God wants you for Himself, to be inseparably joined with Him in heaven. Do not despair - do not think (as Judas Iscariot did) that your sin is greater than God’s love.

All sin is evil, but by going to Jesus, all sin (even the most horrible and hard to overcome) will be forgiven. Jesus willingly died on the cross (he was not “killed by his father”) to show us both the horror of sin, but also the far greater power of His love.

If you cannot help yourself now, let others help you too - that is why God puts them in your path.

My heart goes out to you, and I will pray for you.

Oh, Zundrah, I did as paperwight suggested and read some of your posts. God made you, He loves you beyond anything you can understand or imagine. As nkbeth said ‘Christ is showing you His mercy even now.’ Please be open to it. Don’t let despair close you off to the love of God and to His hope.

Zundrah,
In order to help stop your sins, run to Mary everytime you have an inclination to sin or even think of doing something sinful. We are all sinners. I am new here to Catholic Answers but I don’t think you are hurting anyone here by being here. I appreciate your posts.

Dear Jennifer

Christ died so we could overcome sin and reenter the garden of Eden - paradise, and achieve our ultimate destiny in heaven once again. We may sin but we can completely overcome sin with the help of grace now. Not easy to do but we can do it. Everything is always perfect no matter what we do or what happens in anything. This is because of Gods infinite perfection. Man was perfect at the beginning and in a different way still perfect after the fall. It’s a mystery to us, but everything is always perfect. God has made our world and us this way. I can explain further if you like. Just email me dear friend.

God bless you dear Jennifer:thumbsup:🙂

I often run to Mary, like she is my mother. I only really started to pray to her about 2 months ago. I was a complete protestant before that; believing that we should pray to no one but God him self. How lost I was… If I ever felt that God or Christ did not want to hear me, who else could I turn to? Thankfully I have our Darling Advocate now.
She is always there for us, she cannot turn away because she is not God, praise the Lord that she cannot ignore us!

Thank you John, you are always so kind to me, running to my despair to cause all pain to go. You are the most tender loving friend I have ever come to know.

Well… that says it all!

Christ is not present in the Eucharist!

I had no idea that this is what they were kneeling to! Now that I know this I can safely say that I will never do it myself.

Turn then, most gracious Advocate, Thine Eyes of Mercy toward us, and after this our exile show us the Blessed Fruit of thy Womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us O Holy Mother of God
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ

What is this, a “print screen”? I’ve never seen a post like this?

In answer to your question; I am a christian from a methodist church, I joined the catholic church some six weeks ago (now seven) and I am not convinced by the eucharist.

Zundrah,

I’ve read many of your posts on several threads and I would urge you to find a church/chapel that has Eucharistic Adoration and to visit our Lord there. Start with a half-hour for the first visit and then go to a full hour in successive visits, once per week. You don’t have to believe, but please go with an open heart. Look upon the Precious Body/Blood of our Lord in the exposed host and ask Him if He’s there. Pour your heart out to Him, pray – you could start with the Rosary or read psalms if you want a structured prayer – and listen quietly and patiently. Go back a few times and be patient. You will recognize Him present there.

When you complete the RCIA and seek admission to the church, you will be asked if you accept all that the Church believes and teaches. The Real Presence is at the top of the list, and you’ll need to accept it if, for no other reason, than that the Church says so. And that’s okay, because I’ve heard a lot of converts to Catholicism say that there were a few issues that they worked out after their acceptance into the church. BUT they accepted those issues because they accepted the teaching authority of the church – in other words, they accepted that the church, guided by the Holy Spirit, is wiser than them in these matters. A good number of the conversion stories I’ve read/heard highlight the Real Presence as the key reason for entering the church. (Check out Patrick Madrid’s “Surprised by Truth” books or the conversion stories at
catholic-convert.com/Default.aspx?tabid=66
the website of Steve Ray, a convert himself.

In any case, the Real Presence – once you recognize It – is the most wonderful help in living as a follower of Christ.

God bless,
Dan

I still want to try…

Zundrah,
…and I am not convinced by the eucharist.
Nobody can “convince” themselves of the Holy Eucharist, if that means to logically prove that it is true. It is one of (if not the) greatest Mysteries of our Catholic faith - something that cannot be fully grasped by out intellect.

Christ told the apostles and disciples:

John 6
***56 For my flesh is meat indeed: and my blood is drink indeed. 57 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, abideth in me, and I in him.

John tells us how many reacted:

***61 Many therefore of his disciples, hearing it, said: This saying is hard, and who can hear it? ***

They weren’t convinced and didn’t believe (at least not then).

But the Apostles, following St. Peter, reacted differently:

*** 68 Then Jesus said to the twelve: Will you also go away? 69 And Simon Peter answered him: Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. 70 And we have believed and have known, that thou art the Christ, the Son of God.*

Do you think the Apostles thought Christ had given them a logical proof of what He taught? No, they didn’t fully understand Him. They believed Him because He was God.

But surely they didn’t think that what He said was simply irrational or dreadful. I think they realized that God has completely power over reality, even over the incredible reality of making Himself intimately available to us under the appearances of bread and wine - things that we know so well.

Do you believe Christ? Do you believe that Christ founded the Church and told Her “he who hears you hears ME”? If so, shouldn’t you believe the Church? Try to understand better, yes. Pray for Christ’s help. Follow the excellent advice of others in this thread. At last, I’ll pray, you’ll come to believe.

I think that the Holy Eucharist is the heart of the Church. In the Eucharist Christ gives us Himself. But He asks for our belief.

God bless!**
