They have been given the authority through Holy Orders as well as the permission of their Bishop, but most important they have received their authority and commission from our LORD JESUS CHRIST.

Hey Joshua,I have been discerning my vocation quite a bit lately, and I am not saying that I want to become an exorcist, but it does intrigue me. What signs or what charisms do you suppose a person must possess to become an exorcist? I understand that a priest who is an exorcist must have a great grasp on their faith due to the challenges that exorcisms and the devil may place in front of them. But I am wondering what is the draw or why a priest would decide to become an exorcist.

I think it depends on what you feel in your heart. Normally if you are a pious person, you have to know what are the charisms you have.
I knew many priest who are exorcist priest. And you have different case, it depend on your story, your life. Some for example received this charism when they were younger, another during their formation in seminary, another during their priest life.
In general, it’s the bishop of your diocese (the first exorcist of the diocese) who have to call someone to this vocation, and to be exorcist in his diocese for example.
But you can just receive this gift from the Holy Spirit and just start to make many healing and deliverance, but with the authorisation of religious authorities.
