New girl that started at work is a witch. I have not met her yet because we have not been on the same schedule (part-time). She seems to love to brag about herself and this occult. Do you know where I can look up certain information on how to talk with her on this subject? I’m a little nervous because I understand that I will be dealing with supernatural evil forces, but I truly believe that God has put me in this position to bring the light to people in this job that do not know him. Thanks.

If you have not met her yet, how do you know she “love to brag about herself and this occult [religion]”? Perhaps you have been talking to others who have met her, but, to be a good evangelist, it is necessary to set aside preconceived notions and to treat the other person as a human being with inherent human dignity. Any approach that implies to this lady the idea that you believe you have been given a mission by God to evangelize her is unlikely to be effective. I’m not saying that you do believe this, but that it is possible for those seeking to evangelize to inadvertently give such an impression and that prospective evangelists should recognize the temptation so as to avoid it. This proverb, often attributed to St. Francis of Assisi, is particularly helpful for evangelists: “Preach the gospel always; if necessary, use words.”

As for information on Wicca and witchcraft, I recommend an article I wrote for the July-August 2008 issue of This Rock, titled “Witchcraft 101.” You can obtain a copy by calling Catholic Answers’ customer service department at 1-888-291-8000.
