What are some signs or indications that God is calling you to the priesthood?

What about to the married life?

I can’t give a wise answer to your question, but I will pray for you that you receive wise guidance and that you will fulfil God’s wishes for your life.

Well, first of all pray. In prayer our heart is conformed to Christ’s and He reveals Himself to us. He looks at us and we at Him, with this gaze that transforms us. We get to know Him and His desires for us. Pray. Pray. Pray. That is the core of discernment of anything and it is the core of vocation.

In more tangible terms, I think what you want and desire is key. Are you attracted to life in the world or in a monastery? Do you desire to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and the Holy Sacraments? Do you a zeal for God’s glory and the salvation of souls? Do you seek a life of sacrifice and obedience (well all Christians should but I mean in a different way)?

Has God given you gifts for the priesthood?

I think at the core is two things: God’s will and your desire. Foremost you must ask Our Lord, “Lord, what is it that I may do with my life that would please You?” He’ll reveal it to you. His will must come first in our discernment. Then the question is your desire to either be a married man or a priest or religious. I’ve learned that people don’t normally have a strong desire to do what priests or religious do (usually) so that is a sign to be discerned more in prayer.

For me, I know I’m both not very attracted to the married state (for me; I do find it an attractive state for those called to it as the means for their salvation) and I also don’t think God is calling me to it. People have made comments to me about considering the priesthood and I’ve had some other signs occur that have led me in this way.

I do have some of those desires you mentioned.

I am more attracted to a life in the world rather than a monastery. The diocesan priesthood I like.

It would be an enormous honor and priveldge to offer the Holy sacrifice and administer the sacraments.

I want all the world to know of God and to glorify all the time. And I want so much for all to bask in the love of God in heaven.

Your right when you say to pray, pray, pray. That is my advice to everyone, maybe I should listen to myself more.😃 Anyway thank you strugglingalong.
