I’m still waiting for us as a society to realise we are too safety obsessed.
Let’s look at other modes of transit. Trains are close to what you speak of. Many have Positive Train Control to reduce accidents and eventually all will. On the far end, airplanes have autopilot but have little to prevent the pilots from doing anything yet airlines are one of the safest modes of transit. Why? Computers process information a lot faster than we can. A computer has faster response times. And a computer will never decide to have a heart attack, or a joyride and run a train of the tracks like one person did a while back.
Your faith in technology being foolproof is naive at best. Computers do have critical failures and suffer from cyber attacks and viruses. And a computer will never decide to have a heart attack, or a joyride and run a train of the tracks like one person did a while back.
What would that involve?. Maybe an autopilot for the driver while still having the option to drive manually?nstead of controlling the cars I say we improve the driver.
I would never be foolish enough to say foolproof. But i do believe that computers can greatly reduce risk.Your faith in technology being foolproof is naive at best.
Is it worth it though? Sure, one can reduce risks, But I suspect to many of us enjoy the experience of driving too much. But i do believe that computers can greatly reduce risk.
As it is, driving is not what I would call risky. Anyway, some amount of responsibility is essential for normal human development. But i do believe that computers can greatly reduce risk.
Ignorant people also forget that they’re exposed to a variety of microorganisms through dust carried in the air. Even an obsessively clean person will be adequately inoculated. Those people apparently don’t know that the human body needs a certain amount of bacteria and viruses to keep the immune system healthy and strong.
