How does Catholicism conceptualize animal rights?

Honestly, my purpose in this is at least twofold:
One, to celebrate how our primate brothers are being saved from the knife, and two, as the question above has it, do we as Catholics have a sense and perhaps even a doctrine regarding “animal rights”?
