lets say that you prayed a certain prayer for things to be a certain way in your heart or said a prayer in your bed, and those prayers come true, but they come about through bad things, through bad situations, is this still gods providence, or is it your free will that caused things to happen,
Free will Is about the things you do, things you choose to do, to get to a final destination. The things themselves that you do are not getting you to your destination, but part of the full route that you see to your destination. If I am going to New York, I have to drive through or around Chicago, then Detroit. I do not desire to be in either Detroit or Chicago, not in the least, but I go to Chicago and I go to Detroit, places I do not want to go to, and I go willingly, but not to get to them. That is free will, free choice.
Free will is not about the desire of appetite, the desire of wanting, like I want a big mac and fries, and I choose that rather than choosing a quarter pounder. That is conditioned appetite. But on top of that is Will, and Free Will, that may choose freely not to eat at all at the mickey, because of a final destination of being healthy. Then my appetite becomes the servant of my Will, and “desires” contrary to its conditioned response to seeing all the signs of deserving a break today.
When you are “driving virtuously” through your life in your union with God, choosing all the virtuous actions that manifest your union with him because your real being is your oneness with him and your work is to put that into the world, then whatever you encounter, including things you have prayed for, is a place for you to again act virtuously. When you see that thing that came about “through bad things, through bad situations,” how will you deal virtuously concerning it? Or will you simply take it because you want it? Where are you going, your final destination? Is this thing that came through bad things part of your route? Or are you giving up your travel to your final route to stop here and have this thing you prayed for?
