How does he do that?

I agree - He does look good for his age. God bless him and all veterans.

I was a bit surprised though…he would have been 35 when the war began…kind of old for the draft. I suspect he must have joined up years earlier (not uncommon during the depression).

I read that article too…he sounds like a pistol doesn’t he…😉

I know a number of people who lived extraordinarily unhealthy lifestyles who are living well into their 80s with no signs of stopping and no signs of illness.

My husband has a great aunt who smokes like a chimney, inside her house, and has done so for the better part of 60 years. She also quite enjoys her wine and vodka tonics. She is very healthy and lives an active lifestyle…attends church, volunteers and still loves to cook up a storm. She is 83.

She looks like she is going to easily outlive my grandmother…who by all accounts should have been the one who would be in her mid 80s with no illnesses.
She never smoked, never drank and never ate junk food…save for the occasion vanilla ice cream or cup cake. The only caffeine she consumed was her morning tea.
She was a staunch Catholic…but would have made a great Mormon…😃

But starting in her late 60s she was plagued with health issues. Arthritis, heart problems, dementia and eventually cancer. She passed away at the age of 84.

My own mother is one of the healthiest people I know. She never eats junk food and her diet is probably what most health nuts would aspire to have. She’s in her early 60s and still teaches dance, martial arts and aerobics every week. She doesn’t smoke but she does enjoy making homemade alcoholic mixed drinks with fresh fruit and juices.
Still, she has high cholesterol (yeah, I know…it’s weird) and has had tons of gastro-intestinal issues.
My FIL is the same age as my mother. He doesn’t work out, he eats nothing but junk, chain smokes and is an alcoholic. He has loads of stress and anger issues…yet nothing wrong with him physically. High blood pressure and that is about it.

We can’t explain how the human body works. Some people’s bodies can take an enormous amount of stress and chemicals with zero issues. They live well into their 90s and into their hundreds.
Others live seemingly healthy lifestyles and are riddled with health problems.

I’ve worked in the health care field for 10 years. I’ve found that the few people I’ve met over the age of 87-90 rarely…if ever…have any health issues at all. It never mattered what their health lifestyle actually is. Many times I’ve encountered people like this who have had no surgeries to speak of and take no medication beyond a daily vitamin and a daily aspirin.

They’ll usually keep right on living too and die without many health complication.
