Any ideas on how I can find a spiritual director?
I really need one to help sort out my spiritual life and I don’t know how to find one

You ask your pastor first. Then, if he does not have time, ask him to recommend someone he knows that is good. Also, you can call the Chancery (the Diocesan Offices) and they have a listing of certified spiritual Directors for your area. Another great place is at local monasteries. They have priests, brothers, and sisters that do spiritual direction. Some lay persons as well may be listed. I think you’ll find many more resources than you envision right now.
Good luck!

I asked our Deacon, he said “Yes” (that’s be to God!).

Excellent response! My diocese does this. They have a list of authorized spiritual directors, and if you contact the diocese they will try to match you up with someone.

There’s also priests and deacons who do it independently. Although the diocese.knows about them, they are not on the official “list”. My spiritual director is such a person; I asked him independently, and we discerned it was a good fit. And thus far it has been; he’s been an outstanding mentor to me.

Also, some spiritual directors offer their services online. I’m doing an Annotation 19 retreat, and it’s being directed by another deacon in a separate province. It’s been incredibly beneficial.

Oh, and something to keep in mind; properly qualified and authorized laypeople are an option as well. In June 2018 I will be finished a three year course to become an authorized spiritual director within my diocese (presumably, such a course would also have other dioceses give me the benefit of the doubt if I were to move). I haven’t yet discerned if I will offer online direction (through Skype), though.
