hmmmm…I am not extreme right or extreme left or in the middle.

I am Catholic. That means I follow the CCC. No wavering. If I ever choose not to follow the CCC, then I will be something other than Catholic. If I do not like the CCC, I will find a church that fits me.

Of course, we should try to fit God, not have God fit us…

What does that make me?
relativistic?

whew

not sure I understand the “far left Catholics” and “far right catholics” and conservative vs liberal catholics.

We have the Pope. We have the CCC. Follow them completely and be Catholic. Or, don’t, and be something else
You are not the only one who doesn’t understand.

If you think that you have the option of finding a church that fits you, then you are someone who needs to understand Church teaching better. While it is possible for people who are not Catholic through no fault of their own to be saved, there is no salvation for those who reject the Church. The truth is not based on what we like.

Did either of you read Texan Knights posts? 🤷

He is not being “relativistic” and he is not saying that find a Church that fits him is what he is looking for.

What I believe he is questioning, and I have been doing it myself for a long time, is this “left-side/right-side”, liberal/progressive labels.
Either you are Catholic and ascent to all that the Church teaches, or you are not.
Seems pretty simple to me! And I think that is the point he is trying to get across.

TK- if I am wrong. please let me know, and Welcome!!😃

Yeah but Christians really need to relax a little bit.

Bashing someone over the head with the truth does nothing for anyone and getting up in their face with the truth will only drive them away. It is better to have a discussion about the truth over a good cup of coffee rather than to accuse someone of ignorance.

If there is one thing I have learned about spreading the Gospel is that people are attracted to those who exhibit actual peace and joy like moths are attracted to a flame.

In our tradition we call this “renewal”. It’s the attempt to recover that which has been lost, but is still appropriate for today’s man. Trust me, there is a great deal. :yup:
But that’s what Vatican II, of course, has charged particularly the religious and those in community to do, no? I don’t see what the controversy is.

One thing I’ve learned is that expecting complete uniformity beyond mere, simple orthodoxy will not happen, especially if you mean religious orders. Renewal for the ICKSP is going to look a lot different than for a Franciscan, or a Jesuit. As it should be.

Only considering his posts in this thread, I can see concluding that. It is true enough that being Catholic means assent to what the Church teaches. In another thread, however, he is wondering if being Catholic matters for salvation because he would rather be something else. From his posts there I got the impression of someone who does seem to be looking for a church that fits him.

The best way to present the truth varies according to the circumstances. My call on this situation was that it called for bluntness. I could, of course, be wrong.

Please remain on topic, which is, How does one fit into this community? and not a discussion of other members who have expressed themselves thus far in the discussion.

huh?

I am Catholic…very devout…what are you talking about? Is that what it means about not fitting in?

you were exactly right

It would be easier for people to fit in if there were not demands that everyone have the same posting style. Some people do not want a chatting over coffee atmosphere, at least not all the time. I believed that I had good reason to express myself bluntly. (The post in which I explained my reason was removed.)

I apologize if my post led you to feel attacked or offended. That was not my intent. I wrote out of concern for your soul. We can discuss this further in PM so as to avoid derailing the thread.

I felt neither attacked or offended 🙂

just a little Twilight Zoned…

its all good. Anyone who has seen me on the Non_Catholic Religions Forum knows I am very staunch Catholic.

It is all good…just trying to understand some things and trying to see why it is hard to “fit in”

You’re so right. I’m trying not to cry because I just got told (again) that I wasn’t taught right. I’m just here seeking God and its hard when you’re not a top catechist and keep having questions people think are dumb. Sorry. I thought think TK isn’t being a relativist either, maybe he just misspoke.

I totally agree.

not sure how or where I misspoke…I was just kinda confused about fitting in. If we are all following the CCC and not our own agenda, then we should all fit equally

Tk, didn’t you say if you didn’t like the CCC you’d find a church you did like? I think some took that to mean that if something the Church says displeased you, you’ll leave. I think that’s not what you meant.
