How does one know they are becoming holier?

I’m not sure if you can tell if you’re becoming holier. The closer you get to God, the more you see your sinful nature. That’s why the saints always lament that they are full of sin. Obviously saints’ sins are minimal, but in the light of God’s holiness it puts them in stark contrast

I think what you have to focus on knowing, trusting, and loving God more.
I’m not sure this is the right question to ask.

Rather than bogging yourself down with musings on your growth in holiness (which can’t be quantified anyway), maybe it’s better to just take each day and each event as they come, as opportunities to respond with love towards God and man, to listen to His word and talk to Him.
I agree with both of these responses. I really have to question, whether we should even look at ourselves this way, ask “am I holier than I was a year ago?”, two years ago, and so on. Just keep your eyes focused on God as your one and last end, conform your will and conscience so that they never deviate from the Will of God and the mind of the Church, don’t even let it occur to you that any worldly good is superior to God, and practice constant love of God, your neighbor, and whatever is good, true, and beautiful. The role of the sacraments in all of this goes without saying, but many of us have either been totally or partially cut off from the sacraments this year, through no fault of our own. For this short time, some of us have to be like the Japanese Catholics when they survived for 200 years without priests or the Mass.

I wonder how does one know they are in the right path towards holiness or already being holy?
After further reflection on your question I think it’s best to guide you towards a spiritual director. Call your local parish and find out what they offer.

Short of that, read St John of the Cross" Ascent of Mt Carmel. Or listen to it on YouTube. Then find some commentary on it to help you understand what he is talking about. Then read/listen to it again.

Then get a spiritual director.

Never, never trust your own opinion of your progress.

CS Lewis in Screwtape said it was a trick of the devil to get us focused on our own holiness as it can lead to pride (the bad kind).
