Hiyo all.
My dad died quite a long time ago (18 years ago) he wasn’t Catholic, but was a baptized Christian, and as far as I can recall an honest man. From what my mom tells me, at the time of his death he seemed to be in a state of humbly trusting in God for his salvation. Obviously those things do not indicate where he went, but it makes me hopeful that he might have had a shot at purgatory…
I do understand that it’s quite possible that he’s already in heaven or … well to be quite honest I’d rather not think about anything other than purgatory or heaven… however I figure it might be a good idea to offer prayer for him anyway. (Better late than never…)
I try to pray for him often especially the chaplet of Divine Mercy, and ask God that if by chance my prayers are not applicable to my dad then to please use them for another soul in purgatory. However I would like to do more. So my question is this: How does one go about offering the Eucharist or suffering for a soul in purgatory?
