How can someone offer up their personal pain for the souls in purgatory?

Dear Jesus I give this to you,please have mercy on the poor souls in purgatory .
Something like that.
 
You could also add this intention to your morning offering e.g. O Sacred Heart of Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you all my prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of your Sacred Heart, in thanksgiving for your favor, in reparation for my sins and for the holy souls in purgatory.
 
I’ve struggled with this to although I saw a video of Father Mike saying that you can offer up your joys too. Even if you go for a run he said you can offer that up.
