How does our marrying outside the Catholic Church affect my Catholic fiance and our future children?

i cannot get an answer from our church here in our town. I am not Catholic but my fiance is. We are getting married outside of the catholic churh. how does this affect his religion and his sons religion. we were told it will not affect his son, but if it does affect my fiance how can he go about being able to recieve communion again? please help our wedding is in august :confused:

The Catholic Church does allow Catholics to marry non-Catholics. But it does insist that the Catholic marry through the Catholic Church. Otherwise, the Catholic Church does not recognize the marriage as valid. Further, unless the child is in danger of death, it requires that the parent be a practicing Catholic before it will baptize it. Be sure and tell him this.
