Correct. But, the verses used by Calvinists to support OSAS isn’t in the context of “prayer for others”.

Prayer of petition of any sort falls into this question of the necessity of prayer, God’s sovereign will, his immutability and his foreknowledge. I don’t know why you’re bringing OSAS into this. My only connection was predestination, which is closely related to the question. Not OSAS.

Me and my girlfriend have been talking about praying for others and how that works. It doesn’t make sense that you’d change God’s mind about something since it implies you know better than God. But it doesn’t seem as though prayer is pointless. So when you’re praying for a cause or another person how does that work?
God uses us in other’s lives, in their salvation. He uses our love, love being a virtue that He wants to spread throughout this dark and hopeless world.

OK. So, even though predestination exists, we can still cooperate with God by praying for others and the prayers can be effective.

Yes, the Church teaches that “predestination” still includes and involves our choices along with God’s foreknowledge of them.

Luke 11:9-10

“And I tell you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; and he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, it shall be opened.”

I don’t pray for myself at all. All of my prayers have always been for others. Lately I have been praying for my family’s conversion to the faith I even have lit candles for their conversion and still do.
Excellent. Prayer works miracles.

JOhn the Baptist had expectations about the Messiah that were not met by what he knew about Jesus (this is why, when in prison, he sent his disciples to Jesus).
ok that is ONE possibility. Another is that being in prison, John wasn’t sure the one he met on the Jordan was the same person so he sent his disciples to confirm it was the same. Yet another possibility is that he knew all along this was the same Jesus but sent his disciples for their benefit, so they would know who to follow once he was executed.

My two cents:

All bad things are due to evil spirits, they occupy our soul because of our abandonment of God (Holy spirit).

Since God is so pure (a consequence of his omnipotence), like a true gentleman he could not help or visit us uninvited (prayers) especially if we are rude (sinners).
