Take it slow. That’s my best advice. The Gospel of John (my personal favorite) begins: “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.” (John 1: 1) Jesus is the Word made flesh, so just as you savor him body, blood, soul and divinity physically present in the Eucharist, savor him in the Word of God, the Bible. And don’t worry about being a slow learner. Often you see things more clearly than those of us who are quicker. God is simplicity. The more simple you are, the more you see. Too many of us make things too complicated, and simplicity is really hard for us.
God’s blessings be on you!
