How does someone with irregular cycles use NFP?

hello,
I find it very difficult to follow the natural family planning contraceptive process, because i have a irregular menstral cycle. I can skip months on my menstal cycle, How am i able to follow natural family planning, without getting pregnant. I don’t know when i am ovalulating.
