I think you’re getting a better grasp of the Trinity than most Christians have!at which point, Jesus is the Son of what exactly?
I am going to go out on a limb here and guess that this is not what Christians mean by the Trinity.
In answer to your initial question “how does the Trinity help us?”, the Catholic Catechism teaches that the Trinity is central to all other Christian doctrines. It reveals a lot about Chrirstianity, and has rich practical implications - for example:
**The Church **- By the Son taking on human flesh, He forged an intimate relationship with us and made us adopted sons of the Father. This sort of sonship is a responsiblility rather than a mere title. We are invited into the Trinitarian relationship, and as adopted sons and daughters we carry on the work that the Son started when He was on earth. The Church is now the ‘body’ of Christ. The Holy Spirit was given to the Church to provide us with the gifts neccessary to carry out His work.
Anthropology - As has been said by someone already, we are made in the image of God. If God is in his essence a relationship of persons, man must be communal in the very nature of his being.
