gotcha! I would still love to read that thread. Not to stand on your way or anything but to just help broaden my own perspective. Thank you.
Maybe. But that would take some serious time. I’d have to write it out on paper, first. I’ll think on it, though. 🙂

Maybe I am overestimating the abilities of Satan but, I would think so: when a person starts to pray God more often and will has more spiritual power, Satan would not want to lose this soul and he would attack more. I would say Satan would not keep working intensively on a famous atheist for example. He would use his power much more over the more devoted people, because everytime he fails this should do him great harm. Like in the book Faust of Goethe.
Yes does he also have the power to reach every individual ? I think as I said he would choose his victims and yes there are also demons who help him. But I think his ways should also be very complex and beyond our understanding. He must be flexible for every time of the humanity to adopt all kinds of reality.

You don’t need paper, on screen you could edit as you go along without leaving any mess behind. It will save you time 👍 .

Hi,

Can Satan influence our minds ? Not exactly by controlling it but causing some disorder in thinking as we especially try to think God and as we pray. Can he interfere in our thoughts ?

Please share your knowledge, opinions and if there is, your experiences with me.
According to the book of Revelation Satan acts through intermediaries (the beasts) to whom he gives his power and authority (and throne)

Then the dragon [Satan] took his stand on the sand of the seashore. And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads; and on its horns were ten diadems, and on its heads were blasphemous names. ……. And the dragon gave it his power and his throne and great authority. …… In amazement the whole earth followed the beast. They worshiped the dragon, for he had given his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who can fight against it?”
The beast ……. was allowed to make war on the saints and to conquer them…….Then I saw another beast that rose out of the earth; it had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon. It exercises all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and it makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast…….(Rev 12:18-13:12)

What are the beasts in today’s world?

Some of what goes on in man’s head is strictly within his reach as far as correcting it or having a charge over it. Many people refuse to act responsibly, and when time comes to deal with the consequences of their actions, they turn around and mug whover with the all too classic “the devil made me do it.” I personally have no sympany for these types. As human beings, we are built with a conscience we are supposed to act on at all times. And that can be summed up in the golden rule stated in Matthew 7:12 and Luke 6:31 ** “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets."**. The word “others” include oneself since we do not belong to ourselves but to God.

And there are cases that involve lot more than one’s conscience and ability to act in order to address a situation. Those cases do not necessarely involve Satan or the subject. I personally had quite few misunfortunate situations where I initially thought I was being attacked but when all was over, I realized that Christ was providing me with the proper scenarios for me to do the required practicing to work on mastering either forgiveness, or patience etc. So when one feels they are being attacked, they need to back out of the actual mishap and ask themselves if Christ has anything to do with it, if they come to answer yes, then they need to determine what is it that He is expecting them to work on in the process of resolving the problem at hand. Some of us are saved only by grace and others I personally believe have to actually put in the work since they are chosen for specific callings as Romans 8:30 states: “and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.” Glory doesn’t come for free, it has to be earned.

There was one time where upon exiting out of 9 days fast, 2 major attacks were waiting for me right around the corner, the 3rd was a hot water burn that skinned about 65 % of my entire right leg’s front. I just went nuts at Christ telling Him to leave me alone if He is not willing to protect me, etc. While I was dealing with all that, I received an impression of Him, that was more of an outcry, almost pleading with me that these are my lessons to go through and learn if I want to be like Him, and that He cannot intervene since that would sabotage my own growth!!! I will never forget that. This is just an example that Satan is not always the one to point to, or that misunfortunate events that we’re forced to deal with are not always bad. One just has to think outside of the box in finding out what is really up and how it needs to be appraoched and dealt with.

Yes, yes! I believe that is EXACTLY what satan does. He interferes with our thoughts, he puts inappropriate thoughts in us, wrong thoughts, bad thoughts, evil thoughts, temptations ranging from seemingly harmless to horrifying, in our heads. I truly believe whenever you are suffering through any temptation, whether it’s deciding to eat or not eat a piece of chocolate you gave up for Lent, or deciding to have extra-marital relations, that is satan working on you… chipping away at your armour. And the closer you get to God, the more drastic are his attacks.

The sad thing is hardly anyone realizes this or believes it. People just think the “devil” is a fictional excuse for their wrongdoings. “Oh, the devil made me do it - haha”. The devil is real and he is a real danger and a real threat. Your awareness of this is important for your salvation. You can rest assured that any hurdles in your spiritual life are the work of satan.

Why is it always satan? He cannot be everywhere at once, he’s not God, but rather a creature.

How about the ones who tempt us are satan AND his demons? The only reason it seems satan get so much “credit” is because he was the first to dissent from God.

He certainly cannot be everywhere tempting everyone, he has lots of help.
His demons are his followers. Whatever the demons do, it’s still satan’s desire. Satan is the prince of darkness. He has followers who obey his commands.

It still doesn’t make him omnipresent.

Maybe not, but where satan isn’t, his followers are. I’m sure satan has his bases covered. He is also not bound by time, space and a physical body like we are. You cannot compare satan’s abilities to get from here to there with our abilities to get from here to there.

Hi,

YES! Most definately and most certainly. And the thing is, he will decieve you, you won’t know it is the devil. Think of all the people who started their own religions…and how they thought they had found some jewel of scripture… yet it led them away from Jesus. Or, he might convince you to leave your husband or wife and you will think you are so in love with someone that it is right. But yet it is a sin… etc. Or like a Muslim, you will think that god wants you to get more and more wives. That it is good to keep putting away your wife to get another one…

After thinking more on this subject, I’d like to answer more fully. My previous answer on this matter in this thread is not my complete thinking. All angels, including fallen angels like satan and his followers, are not bound by time and space and do not have the restrictions of a physical body. They may not be omnipresent as God is, but they have the ability to move through time and space in a way we are incapable of understanding. For instance, if satan is in France tempting the French people, that does not mean you’re safe over here in America. I think satan, or any of his followers, can get ffrom France to America in “no time at all”, because they are not bound by time. They don’t need to get to the airport, hop on a plane and take 8 hours to get here.
