What’s Corpus Christi ??? Just kidding…but that’s my ex(for good reason) parish’s mindset.

I am thankful for these postings…the ones that report good news…I, for one, will be with all of you (in spirit) who are celebrating so wonderfully with and for Jesus! Thank you all 👍

I attend Corpus Christi parish. What do you think? Procession and all the trimmings.

Matthew

Procession with all the trimmings, insence, bells and whistles - from one Parish down the main historic street in town (big tourist spot) do the other Parish.

One of the local Baptist congregations is nice enough to send their busses down to the other Parish to drive people back. To make the treck back would be uphill and the heat/humidity can be brutal!

St. Stephen the First Martyr, Sacramento, CA.,staffed by FSSP, has 3 Sunday Masses. The 10:30am is High Mass, with schola, mixed choir and choristers. Afterwards we will process around the perimeter of the church and grounds singing the appropriate hymns. About 20-25 altar boys will participate. Two outside altars are set up and decorated by parishioners. Following the procession we will re-enter the church for Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. St. Stephen’s serves about 1200 families, from 17 surrounding counties. There are 3 weekday Masses, and always a High Mass on holy days and on First Fridays. We have a full-on liturgical life, apologetics classes, Latin classes, an Academy is starting in the fall for 7-12th grades, novenas, Fatima devotions, etc., etc. After wandering for 40 years, I have never felt so blessed.

This was new to me but last year, our new priest asked for a short exposition in which he walked around the crowd carrying the monstrance. This was right after communion and right before the closing prayer. He does this for every mass that weekend.
He plans the same this year this weekend.

I had the challenge of teaching the little kids who sing with me at mass the ‘pange lingua’ in Latin. Believe me, the kids had a much easier time learning to prononuce the Latin that I did:D
I was suprised how much of the crowd could sing it last year.

Our church will have mass, followed by a Eucharistic Procession, and end in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.👍

Our parish will have a procession, following our 11:30 Mass, that goes around the church campus, down the neighborhood street, to our Perpetual Adoration Chapel. It’s absolutely awesome.
The First Communicants are invited to wear their Communion attire to lead the procession (the girls carrying baskets of rose petals to toss along the way), followed by the Sanctuary Choir leading us in song.

We are truly blessed in our parish with wonderful priests.

in our parish, adoration following the Saturday evening Mass for 3 hours, and again after the noon Mass. in the diocese, most deaneries are having a procession, usually forming in one parish, processing to another parish. There is also a procession following the 5:30 Mass at the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle, where all apostolic organizations are invited to participate.

40 Hours and a mission … procession that ended the 40 Hours, which would’ve gone outside except for the unseasonable and wet weather.

I caught the end of the procession: it was excellent (except for the music and the sound system, but why be grumpy). The homily of the Mass nearly made me fall out of my pew.- the priest is the only one of those in the parish who ad libs (admittedly very little) but his homily was really surprising (in a good way).

Blessed be Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar!

I am having an issue with my music director. We are celebrating Corpus Christi and making it a big event. I even think that we are having a benediction and exposition! Trust me, the Church I am at had a priest 3 years ago that for YEARS did not recite the creed!

Oooh yeah I forgot to say what the issue was with the music director.😃 He said to the choir that he didn;t understand why the feast was needed anymore since it was initiated at a time that people did not go to Communion regularly. When he said this, I thought that people don’t know that the Eucharist is real, so OF COURSE we need it.

Maybe we need monthly feasts of forgiveness now that too many people recieve communion regularly.👍
