Thank God above that you have not had the priest who starts the mass by saying, “Hey, can’t you just feel the spirit going through this community gathered? Hey, turn to the people around you and introduce yourselves! Tell them who you are and what you do and just how much you love the Lord!”

We have four priests on a regular basis…two are from Africa. One of the African priests (a truly Godly man, I give him that…and I think he’s probably just emulating someone) says “Good morning” and most of the congregation says “Good morning, Father”…but then he follows it up with “How are you today?”…

How does one respond to that in a liturgical setting??? I’ve always been tempted to answer truthfully…“Well, I’m a little gassy and my breakfast is kinda backing up on me, but other than that, Father, I’m fine…how are you?”
