Is the egg fully hard after it is laid?

sorry, I just have no idea 😃
Probably. I do know that there were fully hardened eggs still in the chickens. We didn’t raise the chickens ourselves, so I don’t know for sure. 🤷

I grew up on a farm. We had some ahem battery hens, so I got to see chickens lay eggs. And while the roundy end comes out first, I’ve actually seen the pointy end come out a few times.

Also, the most amazing egg related thing I ever saw, was an egg that came out with no shell, it was just an egg sack! And it was really tough, like we could throw it around like a hacky sack, it took a knife to puncture it.

And a fun fact, the Kiwi lays the largest egg in comparision to its body. the egg is 25% the size of the kiwi’s body!

Ow.
Chicken’s eggs are pointy because God knew we’d develop tea spoons and egg cups, and would need a convenient pointy end to lop off first, and a round base to sit in the egg cup.

Second as an Australian, it doesn’t surprise me that a Kiwi’s egg would be 25% of it’s body size. They’re always trying to go one better than us. Secondly Maoris are big, strong people (they are too) and need a big meal, so obviously it was designed with their diet in mind.

Imagine an emu with an egg like that! You could feed a whole tribe with one egg!
