  1. “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; such a thing is an abomination.” (Leviticus 18:22 – all passages are from the New American Bible, 1970)
  2. “If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives.” (Lev. 20:12)
  3. “Therefore, God handed them over to degrading passions. Their females exchanged natural relations for unnatural, and the males likewise burned with lust for one another. Males did shameful things with males and thus received in their own persons the due penalty for their perversity…. Although they know the just decree of God that all who practice such things deserve death, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.” (Rom. 1:26-28, 32)
  4. “Do you know that the unjust will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor boy prostitutes [catamites – Gr.] nor practicing homosexuals nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanders nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of heaven.” (1 Cor. 6:9-10)
  5. “We know the law is good, provided that one uses the law, with the understanding that the law is meant not for the righteous person but for the lawless and unruly, the godless and sinful, the unholy and profane, those who kill their fathers and mothers, murderers, the unchaste, practicing homosexuals, kidnapers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is opposed to sound teaching….” (1 Tim. 1:8-10)
So God created homosexuals so He could condemn homosexuality? Right.

& he gave us all our natural desires & feelings & we have to suppress them, in a way makes no sense, but if I do do a deed that the church says is sinful, I will confess it, but we spend a lifetime trying to suppress that which is God given

Not God-given. We have most of this “natural desire” because of original sin. As for the rest, it’s Satan trying to drag you to hell with him, not God. Come on:rolleyes:

Yea, and God created blind people just so that Jesus could go around healing them…🤷 teachccd

God created us and granted us with free will. Which means…He didn’t create homosexuals. That is their own desire. You should really study more about God before you go putting His name down.

Noooo. I don’t think he’s dumb, but we might be a little…I’ve given thought to this, in words, of course.

Eternal God, Your greatness extends boundlessly beyond created time and matter, as a universe around a pebble. Your realities are infinitely beyond human knowledge, yet You await the willing choice of each person, as prerequisite of the fulfilment of the Son’s redemption within them. Our faculties are instrumental to our choices as informed, conscious, creative and free.

Each person throughout time possesses consciousness created for happiness and love in the communion of saints. Those who live according to Your love and truth enjoy everlasting delight and peace with God. Please grant everyone the graces to accept Your redemption, for many good individuals are unaware of their destiny with our Creator. Yet it is unwise to ignore truths revealed in Scripture, Tradition, and precepts of the Church. It is unwise to reject Sacramental gifts bestowed by the Saviour for nourishment and unity. It is foolish to reject the inspirations and blessings that prepare us for eternal life.

In Your merciful love, our God, please grant increase of faith that joyfully transcends earthly doubts and realities, and that gives us courage to trust our lives faithfully and lovingly to You. Let us be absorbed into the infinite potential and realities of Your infinite love and being that transcends human knowledge and imagination.

Where it serves You, please deepen our insight into Your love that holds each creature in such intimate awareness and love that God chose to assume human limitations, in order to redeem us.

Holy God, do not reprimand us for lack of faith. We say with Saint Peter in the frail vessel of ourselves, “Lord, save us lest we perish.” Have compassion upon the difficulty for sentient beings in a material world to maintain focus and faith in divine realities and truths that transcend our experience. Let Your kingdom come amongst us—to destroy the dam of selfishness, sin, injustice and unbelief that, through our tacit or explicit consent, holds back the flood of Yourself from the souls of humankind.

In the same vein, refuting the argument that God might be dumb

Holy God, we do not grasp how awesome and incomprehensible are Your truths. We mistake our conceptions regarding You as the essence of the reality that they fail to encapsulate. Human Reason cannot make sense of God becoming subject to obedience, humility, selflessness and suffering, in love for His creatures! Thus, while we seek You, we are required to trust as little children.

We can only suspect a flicker of the magnitude of this God through His Creation of a stunningly vast universe containing massive expanding galaxies in an immensity of space. Yet, God of such greatness, You also create the fragile intricacy of tiny insects and the worlds of microscopic lifeforms in their intrinsic perfection! Holy God, open our minds and hearts to the supreme greatness and the sublime mystery of Your works!

From our tiny planet, so important to us but insignificant amongst the countless orbits of the universe, we dare to say ‘our God’ and ‘our Father’ in contemplating the Creator of all these marvels and capable of unknown wonders inconceivable to us. Perhaps the greatest wonder, however, is the love and mercy You show to Your human creatures on this planet, Earth!

All things are held in being in continuous creation within You. Yet, to our knowledge, only human creatures dare to sin. You require of us a life of charity and justice, of prayer and self-denial, of trust and faithfulness during our earthly existence—in promise of everlasting union with the everlasting I AM WHO AM, which is Yourself. Slow to trust, we are reluctant to accept sacred Your dream and plan for us as individuals and as community. The choice to reject or accept is ours. Yet many people habitually accept Your revelations and promises with spasmodic attention or with vague complacency.

Before so great a God, the purest human zeal and the highest knowledge and goodness are as nothing. How intense should be our gratitude before the wonder of our relation to You. How great our repentance should be before the arrogance of neglecting our Creator’s laws and astonishing mercy! Holy God please lead us through awareness, repentance and rebirth into continuing spontaneity of response to Your creative love!

So that we in our unworthiness may be saved and made whole, through Your mercy the seeming-impossible occurs. The eternal Son of God enters the limitations of created time and matter. He assumes fully our humanity, while also retaining His infinite divinity. With His humble, obedient life as human being, He bridges the immeasurably vast difference between God and creature for all humankind!

In our disobedience and ingratitude, our God, You have not destroyed us, but have become for us—a defenceless infant…a humble labourer…a man murdered by Your chosen people. You have become for all time, food to be assimilated into the functions of the human body and soul of mere creatures, devout and lukewarm alike. You have become bread to be tabernacled in centuries of neglect before multitudes of unbelievers and of apathetic followers…cherished only by Your true friends.

What is this humility, this faith, this patience, this obedience, this compassion that You show us, infinite God! We are proud, stubborn, untrusting and wayward, yet Your mercy remains open to endless human insult, for within time it is always subject to our personal acceptance or rejection. Repeatedly, You reiterate Your love and mercy in our hearts and through other persons. You reiterate them through Scripture and ministry of the Church, source of grace, sacrament and wisdom established by the Son to fulfil His promise to remain always with us.

Our God, who are You who so loves His ungrateful, ignorant, unworthy creatures! Behold the humility of eternal, infinite God, to love and desire us who are enmeshed in egoism that alienates us from each other and You! We begin to suspect the smallness of our vision, the confusion of our understanding, and the flawed nature of our enthroned Reason, with its inability to cope with these unfathomable, paradoxical truths.

etc…it does go on more but that’ll do I guess.
In all: no I don’t think God is dumb,

*but I do wonder about us sometimes! *🙂

So God created homosexuals so He could condemn homosexuality? Right.
I sometimes find God extremely frustrating, to the point where I almost question His competence. But the reason for that is that I don’t know what He’s doing. He hasn’t told me. I used to work at a place where we produced a vaccine to protect cattle from tick fever. Part of the process was that some unfortunate calves had their spleens removed, thus reducing their immunity, so that they would more easily contract tick fever in the laboratory. Their blood was then used to produce the vaccine, so that thousands of other animals could be protected against the illness. They suffered and had short lives. It was very unpleasant for them.

As far as I know there is still no effective “Killed” vaccine for tick fever, or even malaria.

But how would you go about telling the calves that they were suffering, unto death, for the sake of thousands of their fellow cattle? And tick fever was and can be a real problem - in the 1890’s it wiped out half of the Queenslands cattle population.

When we suffer, in a similar way I think somehow we may contribute to what could be seen as a spiritual “vaccine” for the sake of our fellow man. But we don’t see that and it hasn’t been explained to us.

As far as I’m concerned the book of Job is fictional, but I sometimes wonder if something like the “wager” between God and the Devil doesn’t happen. There was the vision of Pope Leo XIII for example on October 13, 1884.

"Exactly 33 years to the day prior to the great Miracle of the Sun in Fatima, that is, on October 13, 1884, Pope Leo XIII had a remarkable vision. When the aged Pontiff had finished celebrating Mass in his private Vatican Chapel, attended by a few Cardinals and members of the Vatican staff, he suddenly stopped at the foot of the altar. He stood there for about 10 minutes, as if in a trance, his face ashen white. Then, going immediately from the Chapel to his office, he composed the prayer to St. Michael, with instructions it be said after all Low Masses everywhere. When asked what had happened, he explained that, as he was about to leave the foot of the altar, he suddenly heard voices - two voices, one kind and gentle, the other guttural and harsh. They seemed to come from near the tabernacle. As he listened, he heard the following conversation:

The guttural voice, the voice of Satan in his pride, boasted to Our Lord:
“I can destroy your Church.”

The gentle voice of Our Lord:
“You can? Then go ahead and do so.”

Satan:
“To do so, I need more time and more power.”

Our Lord:
"How much time? How much power?

Satan:
“75 to 100 years, and a greater power over those
who will give themselves over to my service.”

Our Lord:
“You have the time, you will have the power.
Do with them what you will.”

Out of this came the prayer to St. Michael the Archangel. Note however that God is basically saying to the devil, “Go ahead”. I think most of us know the story of the century that followed. Not very nice of God frankly. In fact, by my reasoning, it’s quite cruel. Millions were martyred.

It reminds me of my old pastor’s comment … “I don’t admire God much sometimes. He seems to have set up the human race as a sort of experiment”.

I suppose the real problem is that we can’t see what He’s up to. Not really. No more than the unfortunate calves could in the vaccine production facility.

In our finite understanding of what God wants out of us, we see these instances where God is cruel and incompetant. We do not see the full scope of what His divine plan is. Millions of people have died throughout Salvation History, and many will continue to die for Him. Does this make it fair in our human understanding? No, but I am sure that it isn’t fair in His Eyes either. Just as it wasn’t fair for His Son to die innocently on the Cross. While we are born with flaws, this does not mean that God is cruel. This means that we would actually have a chance to partake in the sufferings that will unite us to His Cross. After all, Adam and Eve did not have the flaws we have before the Fall. Christ himself said, “Do not fear he who can kill the body, but He who can kill the soul”. It gives us the chance to work out our salvation with fear and trembling, it unites us more to Him. Sufferings are not for us to partake on our own, they are to unite us more with Him. They are to have a better understanding on what God is…Love. It actually begs to reconsider the question. So the question is not “How dumb is God?” but “how dumb are we?” God laid down the Law to our first parents, and we still fail to obey Him, even today. How many times has He said, “Do not do this, or do not do that”? How many covenants did He not establish in the Old Testament? Christ never promised happiness, health, or wealth while living in this world; take a look at the beatitudes. Why do we suffer, well the answer is simple, because our hearts are far from God. If every single person on this planet followed what God commands, we would actually live in a paradise on Earth. Satan has not destroyed the Church in the last 2000 years and, since I believe in Chirst’s promise, Satan never will. Because millions of people have died does not automatically mean a defeat for the Church. Just like us, Satan has used his free will, which has sealed his destiny. Our free will, will either bring us closer to Him or die the eternal death.

Not God-given. We have most of this “natural desire” because of original sin. As for the rest, it’s Satan trying to drag you to hell with him, not God. Come on:rolleyes:
Yes God Given, no other answer, God is the creator of all things. God permits evil for the greater good that comes out of it so they say, I don`t think anyone really knows, cause God is a mystery. We are mere humans, we do not & cannot know the mind of God, But God is God & he is supreme, & our creator, thats the only thing we are sure of

How dumb do you think we are? :tsktsk:

God created temperaments, phobics, addicts of every type, retards, and narcissists. All of these vices can be overcome with His Grace and our prayers. Note: I said overcome, not cured. You are not cured until you get to heaven. An alcoholic that doesn’t drink anymore is still an alcoholic, even from a strictly biological viewpoint. There is no excuse for giving into temptation by telling yourself that God made you that way. Well, so what? All of us have something that will drag us to hell if we let our guard down. Homosexuals are not off the hook, and neither are we.

If you’re referring to the current political climate in our country, that is a separate issue.

I can’t believe anyone is responding to this post. Please don’t feed trolls. This poster Is extremely insulting. How dare him mock all of us by saying our God is dumb. There should be no dialect with this person whatsoever. He should be banned. If someone doesn’t have enough respect for others and the common decency to phrase a question respectfully, then we have no need to answer him.

but I sometimes wonder if something like the “wager” between God and the Devil doesn’t happen.
How can GOD make a wager if he already knows whats gonna happen?

I think the vision clearly show that GOD has put his entire trust in us that no matter what the devil may equipped himself, he can never defeat our faith nor our love for our LORD.
But how would you go about telling the calves that they were suffering, unto death, for the sake of thousands of their fellow cattle? And tick fever was and can be a real problem - in the 1890’s it wiped out half of the Queenslands cattle population.
How can you go about telling the calves that your fattening them up so that you may feed them to people? (Sorry for being rude, if it is appropriate.)

So God created homosexuals so He could condemn homosexuality? Right.
We have all been given some kind of challenges in our lives that could lead us to sin, but we must learn to suppress these desires and live according to His will.
