Some times i get into some mind traps. Like there are some evil thoughts and then i then i defy it. But then it confuses me and i don’t know how exactly i feel. I try to distract myself and sometimes it works. But still… can someone help here please?

Try this prayer when evil thoughts enter your mind:
Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Or if you feel like you might have difficulty bringing this to mind, you could try a simple rebuke of Satan, reaffirming your desire to please God. God bless,

These verses help me (repeat many times)

Philippians 4:

4
Rejoice in the Lord always;
again I will say, rejoice!
5
Let your gentle spirit be known to all men.
The Lord is near.
6
Be anxious for nothing,
but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving
let your requests be made known to God.
7
And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable,
whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,
whatever is of good repute,
if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise,
dwell on these things.

My Answer: I sympathize with you. You are not alone but what you are describing is fighting to overcome sin. Here’s a couple of things to do:

First, realize you can’t do it by yourself - you need Jesus. You must have a prayer life, praying and meditating everyday. You can meditate on scripture, holy books, breviary, etc. Second, you need to make a good confession weekly if necessary. If you wonder if you sinned, confess. As we say " When in doubt, Confess". Receive Communion often for more sanctifying grace. Third, try some mortification. Mortification is part of the process of turning away from sin which includes your thoughts. If you have an entrenched mortal sin you’re trying to overcome, with God’s grace, everytime you have one of these thoughts, immediately say a prayer or many prayers until it passes. Really, these thoughts are temptations so it’s important to immediately distract yourself away from them with prayer. I would also try to examine your conscience and figure out the source of these thoughts. It may be from music, TV, etc. When you find out, listen less or watch less. Finally, I would find a spiritual director such as your priest AND DO WHAT HE SAYS!

Hoe that helps!

Thanks, guys. Actually, well… i am overcoming sin and it’s kind of hard. Today i was suddenly feeling sentimental. Right after i ignored some evil thoughts. Then i wanted to cry, but i am not sure whether it is caused by those sinful thoughts. In fact, i don’t know if i am even thinking about anything sinful when i was feeling sentimental. The possibility of it makes me want to cry. But well… it gets better after i distract myself. I will try to pray and just… believe. Oh, one more thing… how can i confess weekly? Is it just praying or i have to find a priest? And i have a RS teacher, who is also our teacher advisor for our Legion of Mary. So can i go to her for advice? Is her authority enough?

For confession you need a priest, you could go to anyone for a consultation though confession is better… Certainly you can be more open thanks to the secrecy of the confessional. Keep your head up, on straight and in the game. Most of all trust the Lord, and pray, he will see you through this difficult time!

I agree with Crazzeto. You could possibly go to your teacher advisor and she may be equipped to do advise you but you may want to ask around to find someone who is very good at this. Your teacher may well be. She may suggest someone if she isn’t equipped to advise.

For some time now i have always been worried if i had felt sorry for what i have done. I know i want to apologize and i kind of felt shame. Usually i don’t worry about it and i know i am sorry when i am praying. Yesterday i prayed to god about it and just asked him to help… can’t exactly remember now… but when i looked back on once that i didn’t feel sorry when i prayed… i don’t remember anything. Then a voice in my mind said to myself : you’re sorry everytime. And that’s probably true. However, sometimes i don’t want to confess yet because i am still doubtful if what i did was really wrong. And i don’t want to say ‘im sorry and i’m wrong’ if i didn’t feel like that, it’s lying… but is it wrong to think that way?

Confession is a way to see if what you did was wrong or not. It might help you begin to sort out your thoughts.
