How far are you willing to drive to your denomination of choice?

Fords… uh… they seem to be either really good or total lemons… and who knows which one you are going to get when u buy one…
 
Toyotas are the best…that’s why people have died from faulty computer and braking systems in them :confused: That’s why the higher-ups admittedly covered-up the knowledge they had of their faulty systems all in the name of hiding scandal and saving money. I know plenty of people with Toyota problems. Your lemon statement cracked me up! Look at all the Prius models purchased that wouldn’t brake and had computer melt-downs! LOL…

If you look at the statistics now, more people buy American cars than Japanese again. I happen to own a Ford F-250 and a Maza MPV. Both are Ford products and they are absolutely stellar, superb, trouble-free cars that get the job done. The F series Ford trucks are bullet-proof, dude, bullet proof. They’ll out-haul that wimpy Tundra and at 30% less price. Then let’s look at the new Mustang GT 5.0 425 horsepower that’ll blow any Toyota right off the road. The days of Consumer Reports and Edmunds kissing the Japanese automakers’ tushies is over…Ford, Chrysler, and GM are making better cars than they have in 40 years. JD Power and Consumer Reports announced a couple of years ago that even Chrysler makes a better overall reliable product than BMW and Mercedez Benz.

Back to the lemon thing—if I had a dollar for everybody who owns a Ford F series truck that I know who adores the car and never has to take it in, I’d be making some good money right now. I think it makes Toyota and Honda fans feel better to think that all the money they’re wasting just for a name is somehow getting them a far superior automobile and those poor American car-driving shlameels are all broken down on the side of the road. It isn’t happening.

The many issues Toyota has had and the issues Honda has also faced this year are opening up eyes. For the next few years Japanese cars are still going to hold their superior resale value over American cars but I think down the road here we’re going to see American car resale values climb up and balance out. I’m genuinely impressed with GM’s new commitment to build a good car and Ford, who took no bail-out money, is really churning out good stuff.

In two years when my wife is finally an RN…I’ll be driving this to work! 🙂

45 minutes to drive out-of-state to my current church. However, the building will be razed next month, and the rather small congregation (about 10-12 on a good Sunday) will start meeting elsewhere.

Of course, the fact that my finace is buried in a cemetery near the church is an extra incentive for the drive.

i tend to believe corrupt US companies did something unsavory to some Toyota cars… to get Americans to buy American again… Toyota has led the market for yrs and yrs… made excellent cars that last 300,000 miles and more… Now all ofthe sudden there are big probs… best cars i’v ever had were T’s.

You ARE joking, right? You think U.S. companies somehow sabotaged Toyota? Did you see all the investigations of Toyota that revealed a written trail of evidence that they knew they had faulty computer systems and brakes and that they knowingly covered it up to keep costs down? In congress they chastized the execs for being so bold as to actually put their planned shortcutting and crooked agenda in writing!

Did Chrysler also sabotage Mercedez to overtake them in overall quality with JD Power? Did Ford sabotage the others also? This is quite a conspiracy! 😛

Companies get cocky, distracted. It happens. Just accept it. The U.S. automakers in the early 70’s started making JUNK. Toyota, Datsun, Mazda, Honda all came along back in the day with strict, amazing quality control that created a superior product. It took the Big Three automakers the better part of 40 years to finally catch up and play ball. Now they are and they’re overall as good if not better. And I say this as a person who has proudly owned two Honda Civics and a Mazda MPV. My dad has had Toyota and Mazdas as well. I’ve always liked Toyota and Honda a great deal but I think they’ve been overrated for a while.

If any conspiracy has taken place it’s the wet sloppy kisses between Toyota and Honda and CONSUMER REPORTS! Talk about pay off material!! :eek:

Forget it.

Even here in China they have these same issues. It’s a worldwide problem for Toyota and it originates with them. If* anything* American is involved it would be an American corporate business mentality that has creeped into their management ranks, and they would have to blame themselves for that.

I sing in a chorus that goes to various churches sometimes. I feel out of place in any church but a Catholic church. It doesn’t matter how humble or how decorative the church is, but if it is a Catholic church, I instantly feel at home. I live literally across town from all the Catholic churches in my town (there are three, two near where I go to school and my parish serves the university I am enrolled in, which I find very fortunate), but if it took a longer distance, I would go that distance. The first thing I try to find when I’m in a new area is a Catholic church.

Doctrine is important to me, but our doctrinal differences don’t prevent me from worshiping with Catholics, only from becoming one. I’m ok with going to Mass at a Catholic church, and the liturgical service is familiar enough, since it’s similar to Episcopal and Lutheran churches I’ve attended. However it’s a somewhat incomplete experience for me, since as a non-Catholic (if I understand correctly) I’m not allowed to partake of the Eucharist… which is important to me, even though I’m used to calling it something different and have a slightly different belief about the Real Presence. For that reason, unless the Holy Spirit led me to convert (possible, but I don’t expect it), I wouldn’t make a Catholic church my home church.
 
we drive an hour and a half to get to church. nice drive, lots of cows on the way. 👍

Well I don’t drive but I do walk. I walk an hour to mass and an hour back(the odd time a friend gives me a ride home). While I could cut the time down by going to some other catholic church (I’m within 20-45 min walking distance to three catholic churchs) I prefer to go out of my way to the one I’m at since it has a good sized young adult congragation.

Makeup of the congregation is important. I’m about to switch Churches (I’m moving to over three hours from my present church), and I’m a bit worried because the most likely candidate church for me is a lot older than my present one.
