I assist at the EF Mass on Sundays (in Latin obviously). Whenever I pray the Divine Office I pray it in Latin as well. In fact, usually when I’m not praying in a group I pray in Latin.
I said “Other” because although I will attend Latin Novus Ordo masses, sometimes TLMs and also use Latin in some English NO masses, I also use it almost daily in practice when practicing and learning new music or preparing music for weddings/funerals. I also use a lot of Latin almost each time I sing for either Catholic or even Protestant weddings. (It’s amazing how many Protestant brides love Catholic Latin pieces.)
But basically I use my Latin when practicing as prayer - so I guess almost daily.
I voted never because, until just a moment ago, I didn’t know any Latin really. Thanks to wikipedia, I now know how to pronounce the Sign of the Cross in Latin, so I might start doing that now.
The only Latin prayers I know so far are the sign of the cross, ave maria, and pater noster. My 3-year old daughter learned them along with me, which was something special for me.
Prefer? I think most kids would prefer not to go to school, but how far will that get them? Good that you’re willing to expand your horizons a little, though.
