How fast do you pray the Rosary?

I am sure many know of this, but for those who don’t. . .

You can download “Virtual Rosary” for free from virtualrosary.org . It provides a Scripture passage for each Hail Mary. When I use this, I pray the Hail Mary while reading and thinking about the passage. You click as you finish each prayer. The Divine Mercy Chaplet is also part of this little program.

God bless,
Dan

According to my Catholic friends… TWO FAST 🤷 shortest time is 10 minutes, longest about an hour. Normally I am around 15 to 20.

In which language, English, Latin or Spanish?😃

I’ve recently learned to pray it in Latin on the way to work in the mornings and home. Many times I split it up and only get 3 decades in a 25 to 30 minute time period. Other mornings the whole thing. I guess it just depends on how well I pray and consentrate…meditate praying at the same time. I say it usually in Latin now. But on occassion I say it in english so that I don’t forget. Now I’m learning how to pray it in Spanish since I really want to learn Spanish…a very useful language where we live and travel.

I take between 15 and 20 minutes. I try to meditate on the mystery while praying with my voice. Unfortunately, my ADHD makes it very easy to get a “disconnect” between the prayer and the meditation. Also, my biggest problem is having my meditation turn into a grocery list.

Greetings from a cousin ADD (without the H) sufferer. I hear you. I think I said in an earlier post that I find either a scriptural Rosary or my chanted Rosary great to concentrate with - if you haven’t tried it, the best scriptural one for mine is from www.rosaryarmy.com.

I have the same approach. Archbishop Sheen said the Rosary was the perfect prayer. We pray with our minds, our voices, and our hands/fingers.

In the beginning, I would have to focus on the words of the Hail Mary. Now, the words just flow out of my mouth, and I reflect on the mystery (or some other spiritual topic, hopefully). I’ve read that while it is optimal to reflect while praying, merely stating the mystery at the beginning of the decade will suffice.

Depending on the situation and how distracted I get…about 20-45 minutes.

Offtopic, but not really…when you’re in a group (funerals, Stations of the Cross come to mind) or when praying alone…do you say “Amen” after the Our Father?

It sounds really ticky, but it annoys the daylights out of me that the “Hail Mary” and “Glory Be” merit an amen, but not the Lord’s prayer.

i shamefully admit that i’ve had it down in 3-5min. i have slowed down alot though:blush:
3-5 minutes for FIVE decades? Surely it can’t be physically possible to pray that fast! Is that praying out loud or mentally?
I am not much better at 10 minutes. I don’t seem to be praying fast though. 🤷
Well, it’s only a serious issue if you’re praying with others, you want to keep it at a pace where everyone can concentrate.

IT takes me about 45 minutes to say the Rosary.Perhaps if it is only repetitive Prayers without meditating on the mysteries it will certainly be much shorter.I find that meditation on the mysteries eliminates or reduces distraction and makes the Rosary a complete Prayer Glorufying Almighty God,Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary;)

I have a low tolerance for groups where there’s one person who prays it really loud, melodramatically and out of sync with everyone else. Not a good place to want to throttle someone…

A sweet “adopted” mom of mine, now deceased, always said that if you fall asleep praying the Rosary, your guardian angel finishes it for you. I almost always fall asleep during the fifth decade…

Something I like to do when I have the time is to start wherever I left off in the Scriptures last and pray a Hail Mary or a decade in between verses or paragraphs. It’s especially powerful for the Birth and Passion narratives.

Yesterday afternoon, I was listening to some group praying the Rosary on a Catholic radio (I’d like not to mention the name), but they were praying super fast. I just couldn’t follow.

I have hard time concentrating on the Rosary; I was wondering how one could meditate on the mysteries if he/she prays so fast?
I have the same problem. Besides, I have the difficulty to pray the Rosary and meditate at the same time. So, I pray the Rosary only when I’m in good shape, while I have the intention to pray every day. The opinions in the Forum encourage me to pray more.

I simply cannot pray the rosary with a group of people. My boys and I go to Mass on Thursday mornings at our local church. The first day we did this, we stayed for the rosary after Mass. I decided I couldn’t do it again – Fifteen people praying at different speeds drove me absolutely bonkers. By the time we were finished, I was so unfocused on praying and so jittery by all the “babble.” To me, the rosary should be prayed slowly and in unison. My boys and I just pray it at home by ourselves.

The more you pray it, the easier it gets. I first focused on the prayers, and once that become natural I then attempted both at one. No need to start off doing both at once!

15 different speeds? Was this one where there was a ‘leader’ saying the first parts, and everyone chiming in with the response?

Hey water - I’m a slow prayer. It takes me about 45 minutes to pray the rosary when I do it in my car. Longer if I am in eyes closed mode.
Wow, you REALLY do need that rosary driving in eyes closed mode for over 45 minutes.😉
