So I have noticed that I pray the rosary rather quickly at times. And not because I want to get it done and over with, but because I find that when I pray quickly, I get more into it, and feel that it is easier for me to meditate on the mysteries. I feel that when I say it at a slower beat, it is harder for me to meditate, and even hard for me to really get into it at all. I do not want to offend our Lord, nor his Blessed Mother by saying prayers to quickly, so this is why I ask…Maybe I am being a bit OCD about this issue, but I just want to make sure! Feedback would be greatly appreciated! God bless, and have a good day! 😃

Hi there. What matters in prayer are the motives of your heart. If you’re truly praying quickly because you pray more deeply that way, as opposed to just getting it over with, that’s fine. Just be mindful to slow down when you’re praying with others so they won’t feel rushed. For example, I hate it when I’m at Mass and others are making the responses super fast- I can’t keep up and get frustrated.

God bless you. 😃

Everyone prays at a different rate of speed. If this is a natural rate for you I would not worry, and if you are honestly not trying to hurry up because you have some other desire to attend to, don’t worry. My speed in prayer depends on many factors, and sometimes I can be pretty fast if I don’t take a couple of minutes just to be still and quiet. Why not try that to see if you can adjust your tempo a bit.

I would think if you are talking faster than an auctioneer, that might be a little too fast!🤷 Of course, in the case of Peter trying to walk on water, we don’t know how fast he prayed, “Lord, HELP!!”

I know what you mean about Mass when it comes to the prayers…I think I might start using one of the churches lovely missals more often. But getting back on topic with the rosary, I felt pretty much the same way, but I wanted to see what some of my other brothers and sisters thought! Thanks for the feedback though! I really appreciate it!

Well mostly when I pray the rosary (or any sort of prayer that seems to be repetitive for that matter) do I seem to pick up a fast tempo. Otherwise if I am just saying a few prayers, or even one I say it slowly. I guess it depends for me too. Thanks for the feedback though, I do appreciate it!

I do not know if that was intended as a joke, but I found it quite humorous. Very true though, and I get your point. You don’t want to pray too fast! But trust me, I can’t talk as fast as an auctioneer let alone pray as fast as one. Thanks for the feedback though I really do appreciate it!

It was sorta intended to lighten things up a bit. 😃 I do remember that one priest we used to have when he was saying the Mass prayers, he almost talked as fast as an auctioneer! At times it was a bit unnerving.
