I am looking forward to joyfully taking my first communion this easter vigil as a baptized candidate in the RCIA.
As a medical student, there are many books I need for my studies and most of them are very expensive. Sometimes there is the opportunity to get electronic copies of the books we use from other medical students by copying them from their portable hard drive. Sharing files in this manner is a widespread practice among med students. Many of the copies we obtain are of prior editions of popular texts but some are of the current additions.
My sense of morality tells me that taking these copies is wrong and sinful, but I wanted to know just how grave a sin this is. What are your thoughts?
Also, I have confessed my involvement in the practice in the rite of reconciliation. To truly turn away from the sin, do I have to delete the copies of the texts I already have.
I want to have an uncorrupted initiation into Catholicism, so your help is most appreciated.
All the best.
