How I Celebrated Divine Mercy Sunday

I both went to confession and received Holy Communion for the very first time in 7 years!. And I did it on Divine Mercy Sunday! =)

My confession was actually cut short and I did not have an opportunity to say them all. But I got most of them out. We had special confessions today and I waited in line for like 2-3 hours. I brought to the confessional like 2 1/2 pages full of sins. I am a little disappointed I did not get to say them all. The priest kinda cut me off and told me to summarize. I did not even say “I am sorry for these and all the sins of my life” at the end of the confession. Anybody got any thoughts on this ?

After mass I go into the gift shop and see the priest who offered mass. He says, “Oh I remember you!, when I gave you Communion I felt the Holy Spirit go inside you”. He then said God wants me to do something. He then said listen to God and trust in Him.

As far as the confession goes, you are forgiven. If there are sins that you were unable to confess, then do so at your next confession to show your sorrow for them.
Also, as you received confession and Holy Communion on Divine Mercy Sunday, you may want to add praying for the Holy Father’s intentions to your list…sounds like you’re on your way to a plenary indulgence.

I celebrated Divine Mercy by going to Mass at 6:30 AM Then after I got home I went for a walk, reciting the Divine Mercy Chaplet as I walked. I also found the “Divine Mercy Chaplet in Song” on the internet and I sang along with that later in the day. Read a portion of God’s Word and a portion of the Catechism and prayed the Rosary. I made confession a week ago on the Thursday before Easter.

Divine Mercy Sunday was a big to-do at our shack (and any number of others in the area). After our 11:30AM Solemn Mass, we had a pot-luck luncheon in our hall, which was still decorated from a rather large parish wedding the day before.

At 2PM the priest went back into the box to hear more confessions until 3PM, which Our Lord told St. Faustina is the Hour of Mercy. At that time the Divine Mercy image was blessed and the chaplet sung (to the familiar traditional setting previously used on EWTN), led by our deacon. We are fortunate to have a first-class relic of St. Faustina, so the day’s events were concluded by the faithful venerating the relic.
