Hi,

I wrote this to someone who is a nominal Catholic who doesn’t practice:

People say that the Catholic Church is corrupt. It’s not the Catholic Church that is corrupt, it is the people in it. If people were doing what the Catholic Church teaches, they wouldn’t be abusing each other. The Church is a guide post, and the problem is that people are not following it. They call themselves Catholic, but they basically think that they know better than what the church teaches. If you’re going to call yourself Catholic, why would someone do that? What does it mean to be a Catholic? It’s not a club. It is a set of beliefs that we commonly hold to be true. If you don’t agree, there are plenty of other churches out there that you can join. There are bishops who say that the Catholic church’s teaching are wrong, and rebel against the Pope.

I have a friend who often says that if you find a perfect church, don’t join it, because then it won’t be perfect anymore. I think this is wrong. That Catholic Church itself is perfect. If people were perfect, they wouldn’t need a church. If someone doesn’t think they need the Church’s teaching to guide their life and their actions, why would they want to call themselves Catholic at all? It is like they want the Eucharist and other sacraments, and they want Jesus to bless them and do everything for them, but they don’t want to do what He tells them to do. He made the church so that it could be a teacher of everything He told them. That is the Church’s job, and Jesus makes sure that what the Church officially says is true. The problem is people don’t actually know what the church is saying about things, and they assume they know what the reasoning behind Her teachings is.

In the news forum, you need to provide a link to a news article. So you may want to move this to an appropriate forum.

O, how do I do that. What forum area should I move it to?
Greetings Joshrp,

I would recommend that you PM a Moderator, any Moderator will do, and ask them to move this topic to either Spirituality or Apologetics. If either forum that I have suggested sounds off-base, you could also ask the Moderator to move it to the forum that they think that this post belongs too.

I also forgot to say when you do PM a Moderator please provide the link that they may easily find your post.

God bless.
