When I started reading your story, I remembered reading one simular and it dawned on me that I’ve read your story! Welcome to the Catholic Church and to the CA forums.
as i was reading it, i wondered how all the different groups of protestant missionaries she mentioned (quakers, pentecostalists, etc.) avoided realizing how presumptuous they were to evangelize in a country that is already christian.
Funny that you mention it. A baptist cousin of mine and I were ahving this conversation today. He had gone to El Salvador while in the Army after a hurricane to help rebuild. Basically, his point was that almost all of the good things were done by the Catholic Church. So every now and then, some missionaries blow in, convert people, and leave with out replacing the things that the Catholics provided. Further, we ahve people here who know little about Jesus while the faith he say there was strong. His whole point was that charity begins at home, and if you convert them, they are your resposibility.
