How in-depth for confession?

The priest is cognizant when you calculate I had sexual esperiences with another person. I was taught in theology class that the priest is not to be intimate with any sexual happenings, Saying you had sexual problems with another person, I am sure the priest does not have to question this, He should know what you mean.

How if he is curious he could ask if it was a girl or a man–this would change the circumstances; other then that, they are not to go into details with the penitent.

EX: I masturbated, fine. He should refrain from did you do it with an animal, etc.

Remember the priest is trained in these matters and knows what to do, so don’t worry about them.

one though needs to give enough namely the species…so if it was fornication…one says so…if adultery etc

I accuse myself of:

Adultery 3x
Murder 3x

(priest may at this point become more…concerned with that confession…)

As I portrayed in my first email, if you are comfortable with this then use it.

I neglected to comply that some priests will say after you confess your sins, during the absolution the priest will say: “I forgive you of all your sins.” WHen you hear him make this statement it is literally true; He forgives any sin that you actually committed even if you did not confess it,

So when you hear the priest say, I forgive you of all your sins, all your sins are forgiven.

Now some priests do not say this formula, but if you could find one or if your priest does this, ALL OF YOUR SINS ARE FORGIVEN.

Or if you have a laundry list of sins, just ask in general if you will forgive me all my sins and then you do not have to go into depth.

Always remember that the Holy Spirit is with you and when confession, you will be confessing to the Holy Spirit.

Again, I purport, if the priest wants more information, he will ask, if not, then forget it.

The words of absolution in the Roman Rite is here at the bottom …they make for good meditation:

These are what is to be used. Nothing else (except in other rights and languages of course).

One is obliged to confess all mortal sins in number and in kind (and circumstances that change the sin like it was your brother you murdered).

If one forgets a mortal sin…one is obliged to confess it in next confession (hiding it of course is a very different matter).

What ever words or way one chooses to confess …for mortal sins they need to be specific (species)…like murder or I killed one person…fornication or had sex with a person I am not married to…and I am single as are they…or what have you…in one way or another the specific mortal sin needs to be confessed…and while the priest can ask questions…it is our responsibility to confess all mortal sins in number and kind…tis confession…not interrogation

(though I would note that those who suffer from scruples can be at times in a different boat…and should work with their confessor…for some can have various problems from scrupulosity…see sin everywhere etc)
