How is the LDS a cult?

Oh, and one other thing there, Count Morlok, I live in the area designated as Zion (Jackson County) and am only 10-15 mins. to the Center Place (Independence) and guess what? The Temple Lot is still empty. Never got built, even though Joe’s God said that it would be in his generation.

The Catholic Church does consider LDS a cult. This isn’t a derogatory term. It simply describes a form of religion with a significantly different aspect that is not so extreme as to be a different religion. In the case of the LDS, the most significant aspect is the LDS different understanding of baptism. Here’s the definition from the Catholic dictionary. (the second definition applies to LDS, the first if for cults within the Church)

So the catholic church does not have any usual beliefs? Celibate men and women, a Perfect mother of Jesus, that the sin of Adam carried on more than the third or fourth generation, that immerision can be less than immersion? Hummmm

lol…the Textus Receptus is NOT anti- LDS religion. All I have quoted are facts. You can’t refute them, you cannot support the LDS Church against truth.

The Pope is only infallible when talking or teaching on faith and morals.

Since this has nothing to do with either, again you have shown that you are either incapable of understanding, or unwilling.

For someone who supposedly “studies” this, and has done it for some time, you’re not doing too well. 🤷

I know, right? I live in Missouri and have yet to find the Garden of Eden. It’s really disappointing. 1 would almost figured that if the Garden of Eden was here it would be quite a popular tourist attraction. I mean who wouldn’t want to see an angel with the flaming sword?

Nice try but if the question is whether **the Church **considers the LDS a cult, it’s not relevant what LDS thinks of the Church. You are free to have a discussion with other LDS members as to whether the Church is considered a cult by the LDS. 🤷

None of the 12 witnesses wrote their own testimonies, someone else put words in their mouths. Conveniently for JS he was the one who wrote most of them.
 
People think that the lds church is a cult for many reasons im sure, one reason is that living men speak for God and what the prophet says goes.

Catholics are under there bishop or pope, but the pope has not baned tea or alcohol etc.
There is a big difference in the level of control a cult has over people compared to the level of control a normal church does.

The Church never declared that the earth did not move; Aristotle did and Galileo could not prove any different. It took science almost two hundred more years to prove Aristotle wrong and Copernicus right. Just like it took science almost 200 years to prove Joseph Smith lied about the Book of Mormon and the Book of Abraham.
