Hi!

Could someone explain how the Liturgy (I mean the Mass readings–first reading, Psalm and Gospel) are selected? I read the Daily Roman Missal when I’m not at Church which prompted my question.

Thanks,
Stuart

Sure. The Catholic Church has a ‘lectionary’, which is a book of readings. It defines which readings are used at which Masses throughout the year.

The Sunday readings go in a three-year cycle (the Gospels in one year are from Matthew, another from Mark, another from Luke).

The daily readings are in a two-year cycle.

Here’s a good website that lists the readings of the Lectionary.

You might be interested in the link on that page labeled “The Lectionary for Mass (1998/2002 USA edition)”.
