Okay.
Last week we hit the 80’s.
This week we are in the 20’s.

It really is a pain that heat pump style heaters are so ineffective at this temperature.

It is finally winter.
We went to bed and the house was around 70.
Usually the brick holds heat and we don’t drop too much overnight.
This time we woke to a house that was 60.

Brrr.

Hmm, 60 is cold to you?

I keep my thermostat at 60.

I would like to keep my house at 55 at night to get good sleep but my refrigerator has to be in a house at 60. According to the owner’s manual.

3:50AM and currently 31F. Will drop to 29F for a few hours. High to be 56F. It warms up from here for the next few days. I’m sure that will change, though!

It was 22 degrees yesterday in the daytime. I don’t know what the temp was last night, but our house did seem colder than usual.

Snow tonight, snow tomorrow, tomorrow night and Friday morning. With all of that only 1-3 inches predicted. Something seems off.

Big time snow here in the north Idaho panhandle. About 18 inches on the ground when I tried to refill my bird feeders.

Ok.
This morning there was frost on my car windshield. Nothing abnormal for this time of year. I usually just throw a cup of cold water on the windshield…the temp is usually right around freezing, so the water is plenty to clean off the windshield and keep it clear.
So I throw my cup of water…instant ice sheet across my windshield and wipers frozen into place.

And I have no ice scraper. I live in the south, no one does. Shoot, a half inch of snow can shut down the entire city.

Ended up waiting for the car to warm up…20 minutes.

Fortunately we are supposed to warm up tomorrow night. 40’s and rain. Lovely.

Diesel, so everything is slower.
Also learned that it was 20 degrees, and the cup I tossed just made for a much thicker sheet.

Next time I am tossing alcohol laced water…and maybe get an ice scraper.

Get some windshield cleaner that has stuff to keep it from freezing. And yeah, a scraper is great to have. 😉

My son’s buddy moved down to Dallas for awhile. Yeah, a little ice and snow is crippling. He resorted to using a CD to scrape off the windows. Fortunately is was one he no longer liked😅

Started with some light rain here changing to snow for the next 36 hours. Forecast is between 1 and 8 inches of snow (really, I can predict that)!

Back in the days of cassettes, the cases made great emergency scrapers! I live in Colorado and wouldn’t be caught dead without a scraper with the brush on the other end…and spare gloves in the glove box (that’s why it’s called a glove box)!..and jumper cables!
