Saw I might have a chance of thunderstorms tomorrow with a risk of tornados… 😬 fuuuuuuuunnnnnn.

Been staying at my sister’s, mid 40sF right now, but it’s also 12:16 am. High in the 70sF.

I’m interestingly always lived in places that are at higher risk for tornadoes than the US average, I’m assuming you know what to do in case there is a tornado.

Yeah, I’ve been through a couple of warnings. The only safe shelters in the house are our closet in the center and the bathroom across the way. (I wish we had a basement)
I recall the last one, I had to hide in the bathroom with our big labradoodle because we all couldn’t fit in the closet with him and our smaller pets. So I sat safely in the tub holding him to keep him calm while my parents held the other animals safely in the closet.
We used our phones kinda like walkie talkies.

I miss having basements. They are not very common down here. I was actually watching one of my nephews at my brother’s house, and there was a tornado warning and we had to get into the hallway , I think this was back in May. There were no windows or anything in that room, that’s why we went to the hallway , there are other reasons but you know I’m saying I hope. I obviously survived, as did my nephew. When I lived in Illinois, we got a lot of tornado warnings, but I haven’t lived in Illinois since 1998

Tornados are of course terrifying, but I still would love to study them. If I had the guts, I would like to shadow a storm chaser, buuuuut I think watching documentaries will do.

Last year tornadoes ripped up half the neighborhood. The last to rebuild just moved back in last week.

A few years earlier, a tornado dropped several trees from… somewhere… into my back yard.
I say somewhere as none of the neighbors were missing trees.

A couple of years before then a tornado removed the trees from my front lawn and cleaved off the top half of an oak in the back yard.

I need to move further south.
The coast my be good.

That sounds frightening (but exciting in a worrying way)Are tornados expected every year where you live ?

Unbelievable! I give you a ❤️ but I don’t want to imply I’m glad you went through all that. It’s just empathy, although we get very few tornadoes here. Snow and ice are our challenges.

In SC, we get quite a few tornadoes, they come with the hurricanes

Welcome to my life growing up: “Ma, there may be tornadoes today”, Mom: “In the car, kids”!

Storm line coming through, then windy (40 mph) for the next 12-18 hours.
