So is telling a lie. Life in prison?
So is adultery. Death sentence?
Do you approve of Iran’s practice of executing homosexuals? This Ugandan proposal is not without precedent. Our society once executed homosexuals. Then they could go to prison. Now, things are more liberal. There are several countries which have very harsh penalties for homosexuals, which can include prison or death.
Should a woman be killed if she dishonors her family, say by going on a date, or going out unchaparoned? That happens just a mile or two from where I am typing this.
Personally, I’ll let God judge others. I certainly am not in favor of putting anyone in prison, unless they are a danger to society.
I am happy to see the Pope conferring what grace that he may upon anyone. I also welcome any statement by a world leader condemning unjust practices.

Lies may or may not be mortal sins it depends.
Following St. Augustine and St. Thomas, Catholic divines and ethical writers commonly make a distinction between (1) injurious, or hurtful, (2) officious, and (3) jocose lies. Jocose lies are told for the purpose of affording amusement. Of course what is said merely and obviously in joke cannot be a lie: in order to have any malice in it, what is said must be naturally capable of deceiving others and must be said with the intention of saying what is false. An officious, or white, lie is such that it does nobody any injury: it is a lie of excuse, or a lie told to benefit somebody. An injurious lie is one which does harm.
Lies are punishable by law its called purjury
Perjury, also known as forswearing, is the willful act of swearing a false oath or affirmation to tell the truth, whether spoken or in writing, concerning matters material to a judicial proceeding.[1] That is, the witness falsely promises to tell the truth about matters which affect the outcome of the case. For example, it is not considered perjury to lie about one’s age unless age is a factor in determining the legal result, such as eligibility for old age retirement benefits.
Perjury is considered a serious offense as it can be used to usurp the power of the courts, resulting in miscarriages of justice. In the United States, for example, the general perjury statute under Federal law classifies perjury as a felony and provides for a prison sentence of up to five years.[2] On the other hand, the California Penal Code allows for perjury to be a capital offense in cases causing wrongful execution. However prosecutions for perjury are rare.[3] In some countries such as France and Italy, suspects cannot be heard under oath or affirmation and thus cannot commit perjury, regardless of what they say during their trial.
These are liberal times I agree.
Mankind has determined the laws of the land.
At times it differs what is to be found as guilt and not guilty.
If you go by the bible for punishments of such sins then you have nothing to negative say about this post.
Besides read an article about “kill the gays” that facet of justice is yet to be put into action. Its an option to be considered at this point not in effect.
There is nothing wrong with what the pope has done by giving her the papal blessing. Maybe by receiving the popes blessing her heart will soften and wont turn to capital punishment for these people. Thats my hope any way.
