I asked this before, but it must have been overlooked. I’ve waited for two days for it to show up and it hasn’t yet. Hmm. . .?

I am getting a decree of nullility (annullment) through my FIs church before we can get married. My ex husband does not seem likely to answer the questionaire they are going to send him.

My question is, how long can he sit on the paperwork before they move on without him? In other words, how long can he hold us up for? 2 weeks. . .6 months. . .etc?
Thank you for your answer. I really am curious about this and need to know.

Dear J,

Not being a canon lawyer, I checked with the local tribunal and learned that if the tribunal does not hear from the respondent after fifteen days, it can move on without that person. However, for a number of reasons canon law does allow the tribunal to wait up to two months before moving on.
