How long did you date before you got engaged?

Well, DH and I met on Ave Maria Singles, so since a lot of our relationship was long distance our “dating” was different from most.

But we first started writing in August and met in person the following February. We were engaged Christmas Eve and then married the August after that.

So dating to engagement was 1 year and 4 months or 10 months depending on whether you count the time from beginning our correspondence or our first in person meeting.

Hmmm, met my husband in July and engaged the next April, so 9 months. Married in November so we were engaged 7months. Sixteen months total.

You know, I never did the math before now…we’ve been married 46 years! But, I remember our meeting, engagement and marriage very well!

My husband and I were friends for almost two years before we “officially” started dating, then we got engaged six weeks later, but we set the wedding a year later so that our family and friends didn’t think we were “rushing” into marriage!

Our 32nd wedding anniversary will be next July! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

We were friends for about a year first. Got engaged after a year and 5 months of dating got married after a 7 month engagement period. So from dating to marriage it was a little over 2 years. With one year as friends first.

It all happened pretty fast after we started dating but she was 28 and I was 34 so I like to think we semi knew what we were doing.

My future husband and I got engaged within 3 months of meeting and then got married about 5 months after that. (Technically, I suppose it should have been 6 months due to the normal US parish 6-month cooling-off period, but it worked out to 5.)

There were a bunch of surprises (mostly due to different household habits), but nothing impossible to deal with.

We’re pretty happy, but don’t try this at home, kids!

We were friends for at least a year before we became “romantic”, so, we were already spending much of our free time together. We did not do the formal “let’s to to a movie and dinner” beginning of dating.

We then broke up for awhile, but, our paths kept crossing and within about 6 months we were again romantic.

We decided to get married somewhere in there. No formal “down on one knee” surprise engagement, it was an organic thing.

Met in 86 married in 90.

Funny how sometimes things like that happen. Technically I should have been baptized before my godson but my godson was baptized before I was! No joke.

My parents were married for about 30 years. They would have been married longer than that but Dad became ill and died. Mom never remarried or even dated even though she was only about 65 when Dad died. She said she considered herself still married to Dad.

Met in August ‘98. I was on a 9 month assignment for my job to PA. Proposed Valentine’s Day ‘99. She said no. Continued dating. A month later I went away on a trip, and when I got off the plane on the return trip, she was there waiting at the airport gate (pre 9/11) for me excitedly. She said yes! 😍 I was prepared to quit my job when my temporary assignment was over and my employer expected me to return to Virginia. A few days before I was to give notice, I was asked to stay on in PA permanently! 😀 We married that June. Been married twenty years now and happier than I could ever imagine!

We dated for 18 months before getting engaged and we were engaged for just about 6 months before we were married.
