How long do I have to fast before I go to church?

Those EF’ers are trying to be pre-Vatican II in every way.

If they want to go beyond what is required, it would be all right and probably count as a penance, except that they ruin it if they make a big deal out of the fact that they’re doing it.

Like the people Jesus complained about who stand on the street corner to pray.
Exactly. Some wouldn’t drink water or even brush their teeth before attending liturgy. Disgusting!

One full HOUR unless age [60] or a medical condition exist that overrides this.

Know that only Catholics NOT in Mortal sin can participate worthily in Catholic Holy Communion

God Bless you,
Patrick.

I beg to differ. I would hope a practicing Catholic would not assume such. To do that would be to assume all practicing Catholics receive the Eucharist every time they attend Mass, regardless of being in a state of grace or not. Obviously, fasting does not absolve mortal sin and make a practicing Catholic who is in need of the Sacrament of Penance properly disposed for communion.

It’s not an actual issue.

The fast is for healthy normal people who should fast before they receive Holy Communion.

[Absolutely NOTHING to do with what time you go to church.]

Not intended for non-normal situations, such as diabetics or mothers who test their newborns’ bottled formula or other situations. One day a priest wanted me to serve Mass for him and I had just eaten and he said he gave me a dispensation.

I saw a firefighter in his bunker suit enter church “late for Mass” but at the end of the Communion and the priest who knew him beckoned him forward and put his hand on the fireman’s shoulder and chatted for a second [the priest was concerned if the fireman was ok] and gave him Holy Communion.

Priests are allowed to eat between Masses … it is supposed to be some light food … a snack.

The Church is not unreasonable.
