How long is Maundy Thursday Mass in EF

I’ll be trying to juggle being an altar server at two parishes for the Triduum this Easter, but I need to have a good estimation for how long the Thursday of the Lord’s Supper liturgy (Maundy Thursday) takes in the Extraordinary Form, so I can tell the priest if I can make it to two masses this Thursday. I assume it’s a sung Mass if that’s customary. Any help is appreciated. 😉🙏
 
I don’t know, but I just wanted to say I look forward to finding out with you as I go to my first Maudy Thursday EF Mass this week! 😄
 
Or Thursday of the Lord’s Supper. Is Holy Thursday a Catholic thing? I know the Danish name is “Clean Thursday” or “Washing Thursday” which is “Maundy Thursday” in English. But Denmark is a protestant country, so what do I know? 😅
 
Call the parish and ask. They know, they have the same liturgy every year.

They really don’t. It’s the first time the Triduum is celebrated on the Extraordinary Form. I would also contact the priest, but I don’t have his information.
I was really only looking for an estimate like “it’s usually way longer than an average mass” or whatever. 😅
 
Longtime EF Master of Ceremonies here. You won’t be able to do both. Both OF and EF, especially EF, are on the lengthy side, when you factor in the Mass, procession, altar of repose, stripping of the altar, etc.

The maundy (from the Latin mandatum) is the washing of feet. The term is particularly popular in English-speaking countries. It used to be the common term among American Catholics, too, when the Irish were the predominant group. But when later groups came, Holy Thursday became more popular. Either way, these are simply popular terms, not official.

Who here goes to multiple Churches to visit the altars of repose? There are nine Catholic Churches within five minutes of me. After the Mass at my Church I’ll be visiting a few of them.
 
That would be wonderful. I have to go nearly an hour by train between neighboring parishes. Protestant country as I mentioned. 😬

I did that a couple of times when I lived in more Catholic cities, but not here in the Deep South, where parishes are quite distant from one another. Also, the custom suffered greatly when the Holy Week reforms of the fifties ended adoration at midnight. Previously, it went all night, which made visiting multiple churches much easier.
 
Well I’m just outside a major Northeast US city in an area with a bunch of old small towns.

I remember doing that once as a child, and again when I was an adult. I too, lived in the NOrtheadt, but am further south now, with way less churches around. :confused:
 
It’s four days long… maundy all the way to Thursday. Four days.
 
You live in the largest diocese in the world as Greenland is included in the Diocese of Copenhagen. There is lots more room for Catholics and converts to the Catholic Church.

It is a challenge to live in the Nordic countries if you are not in a larger town or near one.
