How long can I expect a Traditional Easter Vigil to last.

It depends on a number of things, so it could run anywhere from 1 1/2 to 3 hours.

That’s probably a non-issue: The Pius XII reforms of 1955 were incorporated in the 1962 missal. Summorum Pontificum makes no provision for the pre-1955 Holy Week services, just as it makes no provision for the pre-1962 missal. I suppose it could be done, but it would most definitely require special and specific permission.

It also depends on if there are any baptisms or not.

I would urge the OP to attend, regardless of how long or late it runs. It is a rare opportunity that should be seized while one is able.

Thanks, I had to ask because a google search had told me it could be up to 4-5 hours, if so I would have had to leave early or miss the last train and get myself stuck in London over the weekend! Still, I went and it lasted three hours, there were no baptisms etc.

Isn’t it only sedevacantists who use pre-1962 Roman Rite missals.

(I put “Roman Rite” in before some smart arse comes and says the Dominicans do, or the Orthodox )

It is a non-issue; if it was the pre-'55 Vigil Service, it would have taken place this morning

Ours was 2.75 hours with 1 baptism and 2 confirmations.

Plus setting off the fire alarmthe fire was lit in the “Orchestral Section” of the church.
