Greetings. I welcome comments from those who consider themselves liberal and conservative alike. In short, I am raised in the RCC, later fell into dispair, used martial arts as a vehicle to begin to understand myself, walked to the brink and considered the edge, was “born again” through a department chaplain who was Protestant, realized truely the hope and promise that resides in Christianity, left (spiritually) the RCC, and continued to use Tibetan principles of self discovery to realise humanity’s potential, the magnitute of God’s love and my burden and priviledge to share in this gift and grace. I have a desire to again reunite with the tradition that I know I never understood but intellectually, yet realise the freedom, and the lonliness, that comes from letting fall fetters of doctrine. Through martial arts training I have expereinced energy transfer, meditative states, and looked impartially at myself to view the truth, and found that truth exists in the teaching of Jesus Christ. I have been told that I am not more enlightened than 2,000+ years of tradition, and I concede to this. I am baptized, I am fallen, I am “saved”, I seek understanding. Yet because I found a realization of God (or was found by Him) outside the RCC, and although the RCC was the vehicle of knowledge that must have carried me to my personal encouter with Christ, I do not feel fully a part of the RCC, nor entirely welcomed. The pinacle of spirituality is circular and climbs ever higher; my hope is I will come around in God’s time. I am actively seeking spiritual direction through a catholic priest, and life skills from my instructor. Again, any comments I welcome without prejudice. Be well, and peace.

There’re many paths to the Truth, and the journey is different for everyone. It seems to me that you have been on a search all this time. I think the fact that you’re looking to Jesus for salvation means you’re on the right path. I don’t think I’m qualified to answer your questions, though I think speaking to a priest would definitely help. He can provide you with spiritual direction and hopefully some answers to your questions. God bless you!

I think you may be taking your first steps back to the Church. I took almost the same steps that you did about 20 to 30 years ago. I only got into martial arts superficially, only a year or two. I’ve come full circle. I feel I’ve become a much better Catholic because of my departure. I certainly appreciate my faith a whole lot more than I did. It is most definitely stronger. Good luck on your journey. I will pray for you. May Christ’s Peace be with you.
