Kerry seems to know it for he tries to use hypocrisy to cover it.
“personally I oppose abortion but publicly I support it”

Rainbow Sash seems to be on the other side and still call themselves “faithful”

This is actually a good topic. How many Mormons think they are not Christian. JW’s as well. The Arains believe they had the true concept of Christ and so stood firm, even defending it with scripture. JP II said it is better to be ignorant than to be taught error. That bears itself out in how difficult it is to teach the “learned” of various religions the truth.

I made an observation a short while ago: In Revelation, the number 666 is Satan’s number because it falls short of 777, the perfect number. Likewise, protestants and others who accept most of the Truth, but reject the full reality of the Truth are worse off than those who do not know any of the Truth.
After all, many (if not most) Catholics will be much more likely to attempt converting atheists/agnostics than they would be to attempt converting a protestant.

I suppose it depends on how one defines “heresy.” I’ve always believed that you could not be a heretic in the eyes of the Catholic Church unless you were (at least at one time) Catholic. Is a Muslim a heretic? Or an Indian Medicine Man?

Under my intrepretation of the word, ALL heretics know that they are in heresy. Obviously they think they are correct and the Church is wrong, which (in their mind) justifies the belief.

The first protestants (Luther, Calvin, et al) were heretics because they were first Catholics. Their early followers were pretty much all Catholics (and also heretics). But I wouldn’t use the term to refer to their young children or grandchildren, and I doubt these cradle protestants are generally aware of the errors of their beliefs.

Granted, and that’s why Catholic Tradition distinguishes between material and formal heretics. Thanks and God Bless.
