My husband works 40-48 hours a week, but he generally has a commute of an hour each way.

I hate that any thread talking about work becomes a debate between SAHM and working moms. Let’s just agree to respect each other and not compare our burdens.

Marie Bellet has a song I love called, “One Heroic Moment.” all about a husband who gets up and does the work, resisting temptations that pull him away from his family.

We always work “voluntary” uncompensated OT. The average week is 45 - 50 Hrs, but paid for 40. Plus I have a 1- 1 1/2 Hr commute each way. Makes for very long days.

Yeah, I’m not sure how scraping poop off of cloth diapers or nursing a newborn every two hours during the day and night or cleaning puke up off the wall or potty-training a toddler or not being able to set down a colicky baby or getting sneezed and coughed on repeatedly by a three year old who can’t remember to cover his mouth is somehow a “luxurious vacation.”
🙂 Perhaps it’s not. I do that at work, in my home nursing job. At least my own children are out of diapers by now!
I’d rather be home mopping my own floor than in someone else’s home, but somebody has to earn the living. My husband is desperately looking for work, but not many jobs for people in wheelchairs.
And if I didn’t work, the mothers of the children I care for would never get out of the house or get any sleep. . . so it all works out in the end, I hope.

I work a fairly standard 40 hours per week, sometimes a little more sometimes a little less. However, my wife also works outside the home and usually puts in about 60 hours per week. Therefore, I’m pretty much in charge of driving the kids around town (sports, school events, etc.)
