How Many HOURS PER WEEK Do You Listen to CATHOLIC RADIO?

What station do you listen to?

What are your favorite programs?

I wish I could listen, despite a large number of Catholics in the Baltimore Washington area, there are no AM or FM Catholic radio stations that I can pick up here in Baltimore MD

Right now it is about 4-6. In the summer it is much more because I can get Ave Maria radio in the late afternoon when Al Kresta is on.

I listen to Relevant Radio both on the radio and the internet.

My favorite programs are the following …

The Drew Mariani Show

hi everyone! Ive contacted relevent radio about getting a station here in grand rapids michigan. anyone got experience in this area? I need sugestions on how to form local support for a catholic station where I live? I know mre that the average jo about radio, so I can be of help there, but need help from someone with people skills . any help is appreciated.

In KC we have KEXS 1090 AM. Fr. Corapi and Dr. Ray are my favorites! Unfortunately I can’t pick it up in my office building, otherwise I would listen all the time!

I listen to Relevant Radio here in Central Wisconsin. I love Fr. Corapi and Dr. Ray. I would listen more but it is difficult to listen at home with the kidlets running around, and they always want to listen to their music in the van.

I just got Sirius Satellite for Christmas!! Ever since our local Catholic station had to close because of lack of funds, I have been pining for my Catholic radio. Now I can listen any time, any where!! Since I have a little home baking business, and having a family of six, I spend a huge amount of time in the kitchen, and the radio is on the whole time!! It is fabulous! With my new Kitchenaid mixer (I’ve been using a hand-me-down Sunbeam stand mixer for years  ) I think I am in heaven!!! 😃

I have been listening to Fr. Altier this week on Relevant Radio filling in for Drew Mariani. I am amazed when I listen to Fr. Altier. I wish they would give him a 1-hour time slot on the station.

The only program I really do not care for on Relevant Radio is the Morning Show with Sean Harriet but the rest I really love. It’s a shame Jeff Cavins left the original Morning Show.

Oh, I forgot I love CATHOLIC ANSWERS which is on after Morning Air and before Fr. Corapi! Rosalind Moss and Jimmy Akin are excellent!

By the way Sheila Liagaminus who has the 1-3PM time slot on Relevant Radio goes to my church. I like her too but I wish they would cut her show down to 1 hour and give Fr. Altier the other hour.

Have You Heard FR. CORAPI Speak?

I wish we had Catholic radio in my area!!! I listen to a contemporary christian station and love the music but I do wish we got apologetics talk programming in my area. Thanks for the internetlinks, I will add them to my favorites.

I wish there was a station in my area. You would think living near Philly there would be.Go figure.

We get Relevant Radio on 930 AM (24 hours) and 820 AM until sunset. There is also a RR station in Indiana, but that is a pain to tune.

I LIKE Sean Harriet!!! I have to listen to him on playback, though, because Morning Air runs while I go to Mass, get ready for work, and take the granddaughters to school- so I can’t really listen as well as I’d like.

I always love Father Corapi.

And I like Dr. Ray a lot better than Dr. Colleen. She is a sweet person, but I think she is too easy on some people, and she never, ever gets aggravated!!! Dr. Ray gets to the heart of the matter, and doesn’t wade around people. I know Dr. Colleen lives someplace in this area, but I can’t figure out which Catholic high school she is feels is not really Catholic when she mentions “A so-called Catholic high school in our area.” I always hope it is not the one on which I plan to send the granddaughters (Go, Chargers).😉

Some of the guests on Drew Mariani are just downright strange IN MY OPINION. For that reason, I don’t always listen to him. But he has cut into the drive time slot of Roe Conn on WLS, so that is a big achievement.

I, too, think Father Altier deserves his own time slot. Where to stick him though? And while I think Father Altier is a very good priest, I think he gets carried away with the demonology too much. It appears this is his favorite subject. (Not that I don’t think there are demons or the devil- far from it. I just don’t like seeing the devil under every modern convenience or activity. It gets to be like some evangelicals who won’t eat devil’s food cake or deviled eggs.)

Sheila’s new program is very good, very solid journalism.

AND OF COURSE, where would Relevant Radio be without Catholic Answers!?!

I almost forgot- that fathers and sons program is pretty good, too. And I like Lifeworks and Lino at Large.

OutinChgoburbs,

Well I personally think all the shows on Relevant Radio are great! I think the Drew Mariani Show is the #1 show on Relevant Radio. I think he attracks many new listeners to the station for the drive home and many non-Catholics because he always discusses the hot current events topics. I feel I can get rid of my television and still keep up on current events just by listening to the Drew Mariani Show and its excellent how he puts everything in the Catholic perspective. It was Drew Mariani who first brought up the Catholic Perspective on the Terri Shaivo ordeal and got everyone interested. I have never heard better coverage on a continuing story like Drew Mariani did on the Terri Shaivo ordeal.

At 9PM on the first Wednesday of the month, Mary Louise Kurey (former Miss Wisconsin & Pro-Life Director for the Archdiocese of Chicago) has a show on 820AM for Relevant Radio called Life Talk. It is an excellent program.

As for Fr. Altier. I think he’s awesome. My favorite speakers I like to listen to are Fr. Corapi, Christopher West and Fr. Altier!

I also agree Catholic Answers is awesome. I always go back to the Catholic Answers website and listen to the show all over again.

820 AM shuts down at sunset. So they got permission to keep it on the air one evening a month?

Sorry, I meant 9AM (in the morning). This is the only time I listen to the 9AM-10AM time slot on 820 AM radio because at this same time 930 AM radio has “Catholic Answers” which I do not like to miss especially if Rosalind Moss or Jimmy Akin are on the show.

Notice 820 AM (Chicago) & 930 AM (Western Burbs of Chicago) radio are both Relevant Radio stations. It’s just on Monday thru Friday’s from 9AM to 10AM they have different programming.

Actually, on the weekends, 930 gets a lot of feed from St. Anthony Press, while 820 plays jazz and gets a lot of feed from EWTN. Good mix!

We don’t get any catholic radio in our area. There are a few evangelical stations, none of which I listen to.

I recently got an iPod. Are there any good catholic podcasts?

Depends. We’re very lucky here in Detroit, two Catholic stations, so usually at least 5 hours a week, because if I’m driving to work between 8:30 and 9am I can listen to daily Mass on 1090 AM (WCAR, Michigan Catholic Radio). And Ave Maria Radio (990 AM) out of Ann Arbor has Teresa Tomeo’s Catholic Connection morning show and Kresta in the Afternoon for my drive home if I don’t want music, as well as various Sunday programs that I listen to on my way to and from Mass and as I go about my business. All good stuff.
