How Many In Your Family Have Left The Church?

My MIL feels she was “excommunicated” because she is divorced (but not remarried). Luckliy she doesn’t effect me, or my children - although my 8 year old always asks her why she doesn’t go to church. She says that she prays at home. Thankfully my daughter knows that this is not an option for her and she doesn’t judge grandma.

LOL - I’m an “other” - I have about 5 family members who are not practicing Catholics, while I’m the one who wasn’t raised Catholic who is now considering converting!

Edited to add - those 5 family members - are the only 5 family members other than my grandmother’s umpteen odd siblings I have who are Catholic - so thats 100%!

I’m out. One sister left along with her husband and kids. One sister left and reconverted. One brother stayed as an Easter and Christimas Catholic because he will inherit. (As Cyndi Lauper says – money changes everything)

I am THE only one in my huge Prot. family of about 500 (many of whom are Pastors, and anti-Catholic ones at that, who has left the whole Protestant scene.

Those of you who are Catholics and have loved ones who have left the Catholic Faith, well, get off your duffs, and bring them back.!!! How they are missing the Truth and Fullness. BE examples, invite them to Mass again, tell them you will pray for them. You are all so lucky you were raised in the True Church, God will use you to bring them back for sure! Let the Light of Christ lead and direct you. And pray, pray, pray. Share books and phamplets. Don’t ever give up!!!

I have been a Catholic all my life, but wasn’t taken to church until I was about 12, when my mother converted to Catholicism, and my father came back to the flock. My paternal grandparents are practicing Catholics, they had 14 children, one of wich left and became a JW, and another left and became non-denominational, the rest “try” to go to church.
