I was looking on the internet to see just how many men are still joining the priesthood. I wasn’t able to find the statistics. Does anyone know where that information might be? And just how many priests is your diocese planning to ordain this year?

My Archdiocese has two men planning to join in a few weeks.

Mine has 5 who will be ordained as priests later this month, with 5 who were just ordained transitional deacons.

Deo Gratias! God, Give us good and holy priests!

CARA at Georgetown University is the go-to spot for that kind of info. They show 504 priestly ordination in the US for 2017.

On the right hand side - of the bishop - is Michael R. - from my church !
I’ve recieved the Eucharist from him a few times now.

10 in the diocese of Wichita last year. Not bad considering the relatively small diocese.

Wichita also has more perpetual adoration chapels per Catholic capita than anywhere in the country. Coincidence? Probably not.

3 in Phoenix + 2 transitional deacons and 40 seminarians

It was 5 last year. I’m not sure for this year. There are about 28 in seminary.

Exactly none this year. Zip. Zero. Nada. My pastor informed me of this a few hours ago. I attend the ordination Mass each year (in June) and wondered why this year’s ordinations had not yet been announced.

The local seminary covers multiple dioceses, but for our own Archdiocese there are currently just five seminarians. That many diocesan priests have died in the past four weeks alone. Please remember us in your prayers. The situation is catastrophic. ☹️

Yes, I am in France. The problem is not unique to this Archdiocese but it’s particularly acute here. Around 25 priests die here each year but the most I’ve seen ordained in the same time period is three. What a disaster. Ugh.

😦

Hopefully y’all can get some African exports… I have 3 in my own diocese who were sent here because they spoke good English and their own dioceses did not need them…

We have lots of African priests, most of whom come here to study. Thank God for them!

This doesn’t change the fact that we’re not “growing” enough of our own, though.

Well why is this surprising? What is weekly Mass attendance in France, something like 7%? St. Therese must be blushing up there!!!

The information you are looking for can be found through CARA - center for Applied Research in the Apostolate.
They are a group out of Georgetown which does research for the US bishops (and others, I imagine).

Google it and scroll down to the bottom to their FAQ; that will bring up statistics in general, including ordinations.

That may not be broken down between diocesan and orders, and normally it does not show current year, only previous.

They used to have a lot more information available, but seem to have limited it.
