How many non-cathloic denominations do you thing are in the world today

Here is what the World Christianity Encyclopedia, April 2001, a Protestant publication,
lists 33,820 non-Catholic sects with several more being added each and every week.
Flash! The figure for the middle of 2004 has now risen to 37,000, an increase of 3180 in just three years. How many do you think we have in 2009
 
I think the term denomination has already lost its significance. Even within the RCC there are many people who call themselves RC who when asked thumbs up or thumbs down on central dogmas answer thumbs down on many of them. I know many in the RC church and most don’t even know what many of the doctrines are let alone agree with them. However, for denominational purposes, heterodox Catholics could be called Catholics.

In the so-called Protestant realm, the term denomination is much less helpful. Many people who used to identify with a particular Protestant denomination are calling themselves “Christians”. The major denominations often have many various schisms and sometimes it is unclear whether they are still in communion with one another or really new denominations.
